Comming. She really needs them atm .. We had to go back to the vet today seems as though that with her eye on the right side it keeps puffing up even with the eye drops .. she has been off the anti-biotics since sunday or monday . But for the last two days we ahve been having a problem with her poop it is not runny or dyhrea(Sp?) but runny or soft enough to not come out formed. then today on the way to the vet she decided to poop a formed one. But the color is off it is a medium to dark green and smells bad. So my vet did a float and nothing came up , also did a urine and all it should was dehydrated. so back to the injections we go . she ws drinking fine last night and is eating fine .. She will be doing a Stain and Direct smear in the am .. The stuff to do it went to another office that owns her office so she has to get it back to do the test. She will be looking really hard for Trec, Proto.. and Giardia and anything else she can look for in these.. if her stools are still messed up tonight and in the morning she is gonna go ahead and put her on FLagy.. PLEASE EVERYONE.. keep praying for her .. She is the only glider I have ever had get sick.. and boy is she teaching me and our vet alot during this .. Bourbon ... if you can offer any insight into this PLEASE DO .. email me and I can email you my number .. or ask ellen or KarenE or Judy or sheila they all have it ..LOL
her fur started lookign better better right before last week-end and over the week-end her tail started fluffing back out . but now we strugle with this issue...

Marsha - my prayers are with you and Koala. Please know that - I am so very, very sorry for what you are going through. Unfortunately, there is nothing I can do to make it go away or I would, in a flash!

Hang in there girl - you and Koala will make it through this - you just have to.

Spoke with Bourbon and Ellen last night on the phone and found out some things to do with or for Koala .. and tell me what to ask to get done at the vet today . So today we had Koala put under anesthsia to do a throat culture on her and to try once again for blood. also to check her inner bottom right eye lid and it is still infected . Also the vet is doign a culture on her fecal and did another culture plus did the direct smear and stain but still did nto find anything in them . thus the Culture is being done . The vet went ahead and ptu her on Flagyl to get her on it right away . and Is changing her eye med. I am to keep her hydrated via sub-q injections and to give her benebac and yougurt and to keep her drinking fluids .. HEr poop is very runny and slimy again today . but 15 minutes after her sub-q injection she urinated clearer so the vet wants me ot keep that part up so she does not get dehydrated from her poops and so ON .. My poor baby when I weighed her this monring after ahving an injection last night and one this morning weighed 90 grams . but when she was peeing and pooping in the tray on her scale was making a barking hissing sound and that is VERY unsual for her , she is hardly ever vocal and if she is it is in he middle of the night but even before she got sick she was not vocal .. ( please cont to pray that we find out what is plauqing(sp?) my baby

Koala is not doing too hot atm. Her poop is really runny .. we started trying kaopectate today and still waiting for soem results to be seen from it . I had to go to OKC today to meet someone that was buying Jack and Cali's son so I took her with me to keep constand eye on her and had to give her three injections while I was gone cuase the second one had ran right back out the injection site so had to take her to the Emergancy vet clinic there in south west okc. to get them to help me inject her cause I couldn't get it done again in my car on my lap. could not get her to drink anything before the injections while we were gone or on the way home .. tried to get her to drink out of her water bottle when we got home but she wouldn't she was just worried about eating so I made her bml a lil early. She nibbled on it and then back to bed , bought some instant one time use heat pads while i was there to use to help get her warmer casue she was cold even though she was in a pouch with a fleece blanky ., Then I also bought her a BABY fleece blanket out of the baby section at target and put it in the new travel carrier I bought at pets mart for 10.00 it is really cool it is lined with lepard patern material . and it looks like a purce but has the neatting at the top by the zipper and a circle window in it as well .. and put the baby blanket in it and got her to go in it and wraped her up in it as well ... and then put the instant heating pad under it the carrier in the car while I was in the car. had her with me all day no matter where I went weather in side somewhere or staying in the car .. even took her into elchicos with me ..
Please keep her in your prayers , for she has gone down a lil more .. as of last night and today .. we are still awaitiing the results of several cultures that they collected on friday .. they would have just gotten it friday night or Saterday am , it had to go to Stillwater, OK . to the vet schools LAb.

prayers sure do work miracles. i just had a miracle happen to me. so i will keep koala in prayer. Never give up no matter what. and make sure your vet dont give up either. aa good anti biotic to ask him about is amakacin/penicillan/saline combination. for her infection. maaybe you can ask him about it.

OKies, my vet is lookiugn into what Amie posted about the preliminary results showed on kylies necro.. , to see if this could be Koala's problem . I just got back from there .. She is cont rolling down hill mY vet says she is starting to loose muscle mass in her legs from what she can see .. last night was a really rough not to where she was needng an injection but the 22 gage needle would not penetrate her skin to inject. then after that she was she was in a lil plastic contain with a towel and her balnky in the middle of the towel adn I had a heating pad that you reheat by way of microwave under the container to keep her warm while i was tring to get her shot done. WEll she climbed int he the middle of the towel and when she was moving her hind legs kinda laid out to both sides when she was walking aroudn in the towel , and hada look of I give up on her face .. I started to cry .. and asked her to not give up yet that I promise we will make her better , that we asre almost done with finding out possibly what is makign her so sick .. she licked me and then came to me and I tried again with a 25 needle.... and that stuck , but then she started over grooming the area she got her inection in .. I took her in today and got the vet to help with her injection since she needed it and to see what she deos after wards., she also did a another fecal float on her and saw ALOT of hair in her fecal .. I went ahead and paid for the fecal along with some saline / glucous formula to add to her normasoul-R half and half ..
I had to have her 8 week old son's fecal tested also and I had all my gliders fecals done yesterday , so i paid for all the fecals done yesterday and the ones done today along with the injectable stuff only had to pay 12.50 for all of it from yesterday and today , SHE is an AWSOME person and vet. as of last night there has not been any results finished ont he cultures they are doing in still water on her yet . But has them to fax her as soon as they are completeed .
Sorry for being so log but thought I would give you an update .

Lucy, things remain so so here .. the torb is working wonders on her over grooming/ messing with the injections site .. today was a pretty ok day considering for her , she was able to go about 8 hrs between injections today , BUt still is weak and clumsy in her hind legs .. the vet is contributing that to the muscle mass loss in her rear end .. her tail is fluffier tonight and The last two days I have uped her mealie intake and when she has felt up to it I have had her in her Volkswagoin beetle car/wheel..
No news yet on the cultures. she had to send in some stuff on a dog the same time and got the resutls last night sometime after she closed and had gone home and we are expecting the same thing to happened tonight if not then to get her results back hopefully in the am . I PROMISE TO LET YOU ALL KNOW WHAT IT SAYS AS SOON AS I HEAR AND KNOW ANYTHING!!!! SHe is still eating and drinking as normal so all in that department has not changed . and is being able to stay between 80-90 grams with out falling.. Just gave her am injection will check her in 2 and 4 hours if no need then will keep checking her every 2 hours..

She is doing about the same her stools have loosened up again but are not the green color anymore. She is on a prescribed medication to get her stools hardened back up and on the torb for the pain she is experianceing with the fluid injections.
I even tried to call the lab today myself to get some answers but they are closed I will have to wait till monday will Call my vet that am and ask if she has gotten them by then and if not for her to call them to get soem answers IF she can not get anywhere with them I WILL CALL ... I am tired of having to watch my baby be sick and not know if we are doing anf trying the correct things to make her better .. Although last night she was a lil more energetic in her cage .. not surte if it was cuase she was feeling a lil better or trying to get my attention .. I have a male joey nuetered yesterday that was given torb while still alseep and still went for the stiches when he awoke so he is on an E - collar . and torb every 4 hours. I have him in a large high clear see threw plastic storage container with with a heating blanket under it . Anywho I had to get him alot of attention last night so not sure if she was trying to get it away from him or what not. but at least she was execising those leg muscles by her self.. had to start uping the frequentcy of the injections again today after not having to give them that often for two days . she is still eatingand drinking as normal . and still on the flagyl and baytril till we find out what the cultres say and what not. I am exhusted betweeen her and the joey last night , i got NO SLEEP .. and maybe an hours nap since then . I was getting used to getting very lil due to her illness but not going with out any at all .. well thats it for now ..

I got her cultures results back today .... ALl I can say is that after talking to the vet and the vet talking to Still water abotu her resutls is that it is a PURE miracle she is still with me .. It burdens me greatly after doing my own research and reading alnong with Sheila's and after talking to the vet this evening that I report the illness that has strickened my darling Koala is very serious and can be very deadly.. the CUltures show she is very Ill with two diffent Illnesses but in the same family they are ,,,
Klebsiella pneumoniae & Klebsiella oxytoca She was put on CLavamox todsay which was the seco9nd on the list of succesful antibiotics that was tested in the lab on her bacteria from this ..

All I can do is ASK and pray you all will cont your deligent prayers for her to have the stregnth to cont fighting this horrible illness till the Antibiotic has a chance to go after it , they are afraid it is already septic in her system and hoping that we can deture it from taking her from me .. we are just unsure if this is contagous or not to my other gliders so I will cont to scrub from fingure tips to elbows and so on after handling her and before between cages.
