Poor Punkin, the little rescue with the Demodex mites died
this afternoon about 1:40 PM. We have had him under a vets
care ever since we got him, but were not able to save him.
Punkin had almost stopped eating and was loseing weight.
Mary started carrying him during the day and hand feeding
him to be sure he ate. This morning we gave him some fresh
BML and he ate and drank a lot of water. Then he did not
want to go into his pouch. We figured it was because he had
gotten used to being carried during the day so Mary put him
under her shirt. She got him out and fed him a little at
about 10:30 and gave him some water. Then at about 1:30 she
took him out to see if he would eat. He refused to eat and
she offered him some water. He started stretching his front
legs out and we knew what was happening. In just a few
minutes he died in my hands.

I took him to the vet and they are going to do a necropsy.
Maybe the results will save another glider. Mary is taking
it pretty hard. Hurts us both to lose one. This is the first
rescue that we have tried to help that did not make it.
We had really grown to love little Punkin and hoped so much
that he would make it.
Charlie H

[:"blue"]Mary and Charlie,
I am so very sorry. I know how hard both of you work to save all these little ones. He's at peace now singing your praises for all you tried to do.

I am going to move this to Real Stories for you. [/]

I'm so sorry Mary and Charlie. No one could have given this little boy more love or a better chance at life.

I can hardly see through the tears - our phone conversation only makes me yearn to say it again - remember Ranibow Bridge! I truly believe in it - I have to - it keeps me sane in these times. Punkin will leave a legacy - I'm sure of it - be proud of that. May your hearts heal quickly - the wee one wouldn't want it any other way.

Oh Mary and Charlie, I'm soooo sorry to hear this. You guys were doing EVERYTHING you could to save him, and even though the mites weren't gone he seemed to be doing sooo much better

I know how hard this must be and I know how you guys hate to see them go but atleast he's not having to deal with those awful, horrible mites anymore.

I'll give you a call later tonight.

Mary and Charlie:

I am so sorry to hear about Punkin. You did so much for him in the short time that you had him. He will be waiting for you until the day y'all meet again. Y'all were his 'knights in shining armor' and I know he knew that. At least he was able to pass on knowing that he was loved so much.

Aesop and Valor send lots of suggie hugs and kisses your way.

Oh soooo sorry for both of you as well as for little Pumpkin. Amazing how in such a short period of time how he has touched your world. He was loved by the very best.

His story will live on....and in this way...may save another poor glider's life. For now...he is at peace and free. He will be waiting to greet all who go to the other side of the rainbow bridge.

So, dry your tears....and rest assured, you did your very best and more. Pumpkin would not want you to cry as he is still with you...only in another form.

Sending a great big (((((((((((((((HUG)))))))))))))))))))).
