Yes, I stole this title from a line in A Midsummer Night's Dream, but most important, I have a sad tale to tell.

When I was giving the gliders their food for the night, I noticed one of Ginger's very, very tiny joeys was hanging out of her pouch. This was odd. I then noticed that there was only one joey on her belly. Where was the other one? Well, after searching for a bit, I found his little 6-week-old underdeveloped body lying on the cage floor. He was cold, but hangin' in there. I warmed him up, and gave him back to his parents, but they were nibbling on him so I thought it was best to just keep him warm.
He died in my hands a few minutes later.

After this, I noticed Ginger was running on the wheel with a little pink body hanging from her belly. She was running with the 6-week IP joey hanging out. I thought it was best to just leave it with the parents, but I found it alone in the wheel a few moments later, even colder than the first. It was easy to warm her up, I put her back with Mom and Dad and decided to wait and see til morning. Well, mom and dad are out eating and playing now, she's all alone in the nest box, freezing cold, dying, and there's nothing I can do.

Asleep my love?
What, dead my dove?
Oh, joeys, arise!
Speak, speak. Quite dumb?
Dead? Dead? A tomb must cover thy sweet eyes.
These little lips,
This fuschia nose,
These pinkish blush-hued cheeks,
Are gone, are gone.
Glider lovers make moan,
Their eyes were as small as their squeaks.
O, sisters three,
Came, came to thee,
With hands as pale as milk,
Layed them in gore,
And they have shore with shears their thread of silk.

RIP, my unknown joey.

And I'm in tears over the other.

I know exactly how you feel just recently going through this myself, twice in 3 months. It hurts, it hurts bad. I prayed, begged, cried, did everything in my human power to save the babies but it didn't happen. There is not much you can do in this situation. There are many many reasons why it happens and we have to remember it's not our fault although we blame ourselves anyway. HUGS to you. Time will help. I didn't think so at the time it happened to me, but it does.

Spread your wings and glide free of pain,
Until the day I see you again.

God speed my precious angels. I love you. Mama.

When they're that young, it's almost impossible to raise them. I decided it was best to let nature take it's course.

Incase you all were wondering, I lost the female as well. May they Rest In Peace
