#15390 - 12/11/03 03:41 AM My baby died today

My little cutie was nearly 8 years old and today she died. I noticed last night that she was acting a little sluggish, and I thought she might be cold. Her cagemate was fine though. So I put a blanket over her cage and didn't think anything of it. I am so stressed right now that I didn't put her welfare first because I had a huge thing due today.
I feel awful. I feel like it is my fault.

So now I only have one baby left. I don't know what to do with her because although I love her, I will not get another glider to keep her company. I have loved my gliders, but I do not think they should be pets, at least not in the state of mind I am in now. I am not ready to make another 15 year commitment by getting another one to keep my remaining glider company. What should I do? I've never had a solo glider and I worry that she will be lonely.

I feel so sad right now. Anything would help. Thanks in advance.

Oh, how I feel for you as I can tell how much you loved her. Her picture shows she was a real cutie too.

As for the remaining may want to consider having her vet checked to give yourself pease of mind that she is healthy and not hiding an unknown illness also.

If all checks out fine...then you may want to consider adoping an aolder glider as a companion to your mature glider. They are few...but can be found.

Sending prayers of confort your way.

Awww-what a sweet little face! There really isn't anything you could have done if it was simply her time to go. A lady always knows when it's time for a discreet exit, and apparently, she knew. Her cagemate will really need you right now, as she will be lonely and grieving also. It can help alot if you share the process with each other-for both of you. Watch for signs of stress and/or depression, which can come very quickly. I saw the strength of bond one glider has with another with my mom/dad pair that died within days of each other, and I know the death of his mate had a lot to do with dad's following like he did. Keep your remaining glider close to you (bonding pouch or shirt) more than normal now-it will comfort and reassure her, and I guarantee she'll give back as much or more than she gets. An older glider for company later may be an option, but she'll let you know when she's ready. Too soon, and she may reject a cagemate out of grief (just like us). My heart aches for your loss-I've been there. She'll be waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge- has probably met my 4 there already and they're having a ball! I know how much it hurts-but we're here if you need us, and time WILL dull the pain. Our gliders are precious little gifts, and we can't always control when they're called home. She knew she was loved, safe, and secure with you, and it sounds like she didn't give any clear warning-it wasn't your fault. Give her cagemate a cuddle from me, and remember that grief is always easier when shared.

Ah, Lina, we're so sorry for your loss. Keep your remaining baby close to your heart; spend more time with her. She will need you as much as you need her, and she'll appreciate the extra comfort and love you provide.

I'm am so sorry for your loss. Just like was mentioned before you can tell by the picture that she was a precious little angel and now she is over the bridge. Lots of glider love coming your way.

I am so sorry for your loss. I know how hard it is to lose a beloved glider. Your little girl is absolutely beautiful. I'm sure she knew how much you loved her. She lived a great life, please don't blame yourself for her passing. I'm sure it was her time to go. Like Judie said, you may want to get her friend checked out to ensure her health. I hope that time heals your wounds, and you always keep her memories close to your heart. She is at the Rainbow Bridge waiting for you, happy, healthy and young again, playing with all of the other gliders that have passed.

Im so very very sorry... It hurts so much when we lose a family member. The pain is so much.

It was NOT your fault... dont be too hard on yourself. (I know that can be easier said than dome sometimes.) Your precious little one knew she was loved. Over time the pain will get less and less...and you will be able to enjoy the memories better. (you will always miss her.)

Your little Angel has passed on and joined the little Angels weve lost here. Gone in physical form, but NEVER forgotten.

Hugs to you... and prayer that you be comforted.
Im so very sorry.... were here if you need us.
