Does anyone have any pictures of what the pouch should look like during the 2-3 week nursing phase? I'm sure Schiz is fine but I would like something to compare it to. It's a little stretched out, and the teat looks a little swollen but it's still a healthy pink, not the red of infection so I'm not too concerned. All the same I am going to schedule a family vet visit this week or the beginning of next week so the vet can meet little Ana and check out mama and daddy again. But I figured someone might have a picture of a healthy pouch mid-nursing out there so I thought I'd ask.

Their pouches will stretch out because of the growing size of the joeys and them trying to put their heads back in the pouch. The teats will sometimes become larger, again, to accomodate the joeys. As long as the pouch and teats are not ugly red or infected looking, as long as there is not a foul odor or oozing coming out of the pouch, I would say Mom is doing just fine.

oh I know she's going to still be nursing for a while, it's just that she's currently at 2.5 weeks so that's the timeline I'm judging by. If I don't see her nursing for at least another 6-8 weeks people will probably see me panicking on the forum. =)

Thanks, those pics help. Her's looks pretty much like that right now, only with only one joey there's slightly less stretching. So in a month or two after Ana has been weaned... will poor Schiz go back to normal is a slightly stretched pouch the glider equivalent of stretch marks on us?
