My two new babies have roundworms. I let the owner of the parents know that the babies have roundworms. She got hers checked out asap. The parents of the gliders tested negative. I have no idea how these guys got them. I have three other gliders in a separate cage and they are negative and have had no contact with my new ones anyway. Any ideas?
My babies are being treated, but I really would like to find out the source so that I can avoid it! Do you think they could have gottem them from mealworms? Any ideas?

No idea, but I'm sorry the poor babies are going through this. What does the vet think?

The vet had told me to let the person who I got them from know and have hers checked. She figured that the babies picked it up through nursing. But since the parents tested negative I have no idea! I have a call back in to my vet. But she hasnt gotten back to me yet.

I hadn't heard of this either. I hope your new babies will be okay. Did the vet seem to think he could get rid of them without any problems? Let us know if you get any idea/confirmation on where they may have come from. Sending you prayers and .

Yea, the vet says no problem to get rid of them. They're being treated with meds. Yes, the person I got them from definitely got hers checked. I'm in touch with her almost every day and trust her. She was very concerned when I told her about what the vet had found at their checkup. So she brought all of hers to her vet asap. Although, she says she will have a fecal done in another month because she read somewhere that the egss dont always show up in the fecal tests.....it may need repeated testing. I do not have kids....nor have they been in contact with any. I'm at a loss here. I've never dealt with worms before. As far as I understand they are treatable and not a real threat. Easily taken care of....but my main concern is where they got the darn things! I dont want them to KEEP getting them.

I have only dealt with it, once, in my dog. But they believe he got it (he was just over a year) by critters that run through my yard and him eating grass/dirt. I switched him heartworm meds (as the heartguard didn't cover all the parasitic critters, but Ivermectin does.) What are they treating them with? Hope they will be ok. Keep us posted.

if dogs and cats can be treated i'm sure your babies can too... i'm sorry... i've only dealt with it with my dogs but not my gliders.... But with puppies or cats you have to make sure that you give them all the meds because if you dont they will come back but then it can be treated.. so dont worry...
