Just curious as to what age females stop breeding. Does anyone have a certain age that they retire their breeders? Does it get more dangerous for them when they are older? What age does nature take it course and render the female barren? Thanks y'all.

I am not sure anyone has an answer for this at all. I know I have three retired females. One is 9 years, one is 11 years, and one is almost 5 years and she is on her last litter as she just doesn't seem to want to breed anymore. She fights with her mate everytime he tries to mate. I think each female would be different and I think that they would let us know in one way or another that they just shouldn't breed anymore. Either they no longer have enough milk or they don't want to mate anymore, but I think that we would know somehow. In the wild nature must take it's course at some point I would think that the same would happen in domestic situations as well. Other than maybe they don't live as long out in the wild as they do in domestic situations. I would be curious to hear what others think on this as well. Good topic. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I'd lay odds that Bourbon's baby is the oldest breeding glider. She is around 11 (I might be a little off here)and has slowed down a little, but is still producing healthy joeys. She is also very healthy. I don't think I have heard of an older female than her breeding.
