Last Thursday night, around 8, I let my Lab outside and sat down to watch tv. After a while I heard the gliders crabbing a little. I didn't think anything of it because they crab everyonce in a while during the day. Then the crabbing got louder and angry sounding, so I ran into my room to see what was going on. When I got into my room, I found Nemo and Noelani's cage door hanging open, and Nemo on Aussie and Meko's cage tormenting the [censored] out of them. I snatched Nemo up and put him back in his cage, where his good sister was quietly waiting. The latch in their door is the same as my other two cages. They are Custom Cage Works cages, and those of you who own those cages know they are pretty tough for gliders to open. I don't know if he hit the latch just right or if he actually knows how to open the door. But I'm not taking any chances. Now the cage doors get twit-tied shut in addition to the regular latch. I am so glad I had just put my Lab outside because he would love to have a light glider snack! PHEW!!!
------------------
Rachel and the gang:
Sugar Ray, Taylor
Nemo, Noelani
Aussie, Meko

OMG! I am so glad nothing happened to him as he started arguments being on another's cage. I've heard of gliders losing a limb like that (other gliders can and will fight to the death)! Phew is right!!! Thank goodness Rachel. []http://www.sugarglider.net/ubb/images/icons/shocked.gif[/]

I have quite a few cages from Custom Cages. They are difficult to latch. And sometimes I have latched them but not securley enough. With a little movement they will pop open. So now I double check to make sure the catch is all the way down and over the wire.

I am soo glad nothing happened to your glider!
THe twisties - THey can chew through those, I have used them in my cage before to tied things down, then inthe moring I always find the item I wanted to be restrained laying nicely on the cage floor with the twistie all chewed up in the bottom of the cage .... I reccomend using one of those metal loop things that you can get a petstore, that have a little piece that you twist to open and shut, they are used to attache toys to the cage, they are found on almost all bird toys........
Again I am so glad no one got hurt, what a shocker for you I am sure to walk in there and find him out tormenting......
------------------
love like you've never been hurt, dance like no one is watching, play with your glider like you don't need sleep....
Aunesty & Susan
Nudgy, Wedgy & Twin Joeys

After I saw you say that, I went to a website, but I guess I would appreciate it more if I had seen it to begin with! lol I guess I'll have to see it now!
------------------
Rachel and the gang:
Sugar Ray, Taylor
Nemo, Noelani
Aussie, Meko

They are called quick links & pear links.
These are available in several different sizes, to accommodate different cage bar thickness.
