#2164 - 02/26/01 05:55 PM Another toy warning

Last month I got Aussie and Meko out to trim their nails. Everything was going smoothly until I touched Meko's right hand. He jerked it back. I took his hand again and looked at his fingers. His index finger looked funny. It was broken and swollen. I almost passed out, it was at a horrible angle. I took him to the vet first thing the next morning and my vet said he broke the joint in his finger. His finger above the joint was at a right angle with the rest of his finger. The swelling was going down and the vet said if Meko were a larger animal he would have pinned the finger, but since Meko is so tiny there was nothing he could do. We did tape his finger to his thumb(like when you break a toe) and he left it alone all day long. But that night he took his bandage off. THe previous night I searched his cage to see if there was anything he could have caught his finger in. I suspect it was his favorite toy. It has a chain that I thought was bigger than his finger. But I guess it wasn't. That toy is now collecting dust on my shelf.
------------------
Rachel and the gang:
Sugar Ray, Taylor
Nemo, Noelani
Aussie, Meko
