Well Kair has done it again, failed to raise her joeys. A lot of you will remember her last joey, Mr. Wiggles that I hand fed. Well, Kair had 2 more boys oop on 2.15.07. They were both very healthy at 14g and were doing great until yesterday.

Yesterday I checked on the boys and Luke(wf) was very dehydrated and emaciated but his brother Josh(normal) had a full tummy of milk. So I supplemented Luke and returned him to mom. This morning both of the boys were dehydrated and emaciated. I was hoping to just be able to supplement but I noticed when I went to return one of the joeys to the teat that the milk glands were hard, I came to the conclusion that she could not provide milk for her babies (see thread "Hard Milk Glands-Need Advice") Okay, that's fine I will take over the feedings, but at least I have mom and dad there to do all the dirty work. Right? Wrong! I checked on the boys again about an hour ago and both were crying and Luke was at the top of the pouch freezing cold and Josh was at the bottom by himself and not warm either. Kair is going to be retired from breeding now.

Sooo. . . .once again I am hand feeding 2 little boys. The joys of a hand fed baby are indescribable but I am not looking forward the the sleepless nights.

Luke has been eating well but I just can't seem to get his belly full. Josh is doing okay but he is not eating as much as I would like him to. If I can just get thier bellies full I would be happy.

Here are the photos of them when they were just 1 day oop, I will try to get new pics soon. http://s27.photobucket.com/albums/c163/LuckyYouGliders/Kair%20And%20Bear/Previous%20Joeys/Josh%20and%20Luke%20021507/

I made this thread because I know I am going to need it. At some point I am going to need all the words of encouragement and will more than likely need help at some point too.

Just tried to feed the boys but they were not hungry. They did potty for me though, YAY!! But they both now weigh about 12g, I hope they pull through this, they are pretty skinny.

They have beautiful faces, but they do look a little scrawny in the body. What are you feeding them?

When those pics were taken they were healthy and being fed by mom.

cry I'm sorry to say that this saga has ended, the boys didn't make it through the night cry I don't know what went wrong, they both ate at 2:30. Then I went to feed them at 4:30 and Luke was dead, then at 6:30 I found Josh dead. The only thing I can think of is that they were too dehydrated to start with.
