#23481 - 07/08/04 11:16 AM Out of Pouch Date?

I was just wondering what you consider the actual out of pouch date. I have a pair with two little Joeys that I have seen out of the pouch and detatched from the moms nipple just two days ago but they do go back into the pouch. So would I consider that the date even if they go back inside? Thanks for the help!

For me....once they let go of moms nipple, even for just a few mins, I concider that the oop date.

I know of some breeders that concider oop date by when the body hangs oop completely but the joey is still attached

The day that I see them detached from mom's nipple is the day I say they are oop. Everbody has different ways of doing it, but this is the way I have always done it.

I count OOP date when their bodies are out of the pouch completely for more than 12 hours. They are still feeding, but no longer fit in the pouch-or mom has insisted it is time to vacate the premises!

I count the first OOP day when the joey is fully detached and mom leaves it in the nest with dad while she goes to go eat or play. Before that day it will usually be hanging oop for a few days.

Thank you for the help. I am going to say July 6th was their oop date. I checked them today and its a little boy and a little girl. They are sooo cute.
