When at the SGGA, we were informed that the mutilating sound was on the board someplace. I looked on the homepage, under the sound link, and it isn't there. Where is it? If it's not on the board, can it be added? Thanks

I've never heard the sound in person, thankfully. I've been wanting to hear it so I could identify it if I ever hear it in my gliders.

But I wouldn't have identified that sound as anything out of the ordinary. That sounded like a crabbing sound my gliders often make. Maybe there's an intensity to it in person that makes it different?

Krispisfu, youseff and myself was just discussing this.. it is very, very difficult to describe the sound, because each glider is different, they have different vocals just as we do.

The best way to know it is the sound is to know WHEN you hear it, you will KNOW.. It will get your attention, and you will KNOW the sound is different than their usual sounds.

There is an intensity, there is desperation to it. on bandit story at the info tree in the sm section, I have a looped version of Jessies sound file.
Bandit sound

this is an edited version, I tried to remove the background noise out of it..

The reason I was asking is that someone on one of the yahoo glider lists was questioning a sound her male glider was making--said he was in his pouch, crabbed anytime she got anywhere near the pouch--the sound wasn't a sound she'd heard before, and "it got everyone's attention." She wondered if he was 'in heat'--I told her to get to the vet immediately, that the glider might be mutilating himself, and to come here to listen to the sound. Then, I came here (I'd been meaning to check ever since the SGGA, but kept forgetting), looked for the sound and couldn't find it. I hope the person comes here for more info. Lucy, did you see the question? You're on the same list. Thanks.
