I was wondering about experiences with screen cages, (reptarium, screen porch or custom), and was curious if anyone has built one.
I know the standard fiberglass screen would probably be too lightweight. Even though gray squirrels climb all over them in Florida, they can pick the material.
They also make screening in aluminum or a heavy weight pvc coated polyester intended to be pet proof -- for dogs jumping up and leaning their paws on screen doors, etc. This pet screen also has a very slightly larger mesh.
Thanks all,
Jerry

There's a product called "Pet screen" that's a PVC coated polyester, said to be 7x stronger than normal fiberglass screen; it's supposed to be much stronger than the alumimum as well. It looks like it would hold up for anything but the strongest chewing.
You think it would be a major problem anyway?

I've had my glider in a reptarium ever since i got her and she's having a good old time. At first she tried to chew through it but she stopped in 10 min. The hardest part about them is trying to hang things from it.

My two pair are each in a reptarium and I have used reptariums with gliders for about 3 years. Only one of my kids is a chewer, but I patched the holes and haven't had a problem since. I tie rope across the top of the reptarium in a criss-cross pattern to hang toys from the top, it works great for us! I also have two smaller reptariums that I use as separation and travel cages. I think the reptariums are much easier to clean than my PVC-wire cage ever was. Oh, I also have a large outdoor screened in patio that was added to the house, making sure, when it was built that there were no holes large enough for the gliders to get out of. I'm not sure what kind of screen it is honestly, but it is a strong metal screen, and the kids are always supervised when outside-but they love it! ~Gretchen
