I'm supposed to be getting one of the rooms in my house for my gliders, but I don't know if I will. I'm trying to think of a way to decorate it to where I won't be putting a lot of holes in the walls. I was going to have fabric strips going across the ceiling in an x so that I could just hang stuff on it, but that would be too much fabric to buy. It's a pretty big room. Would it be safe to use rope or would it possibly fall? What is safe to use to tack things up on the ceiling? I'll take any ideas from anyone.

i've been wondering all this myself. currently i have fleece on the walls but nothing yet from the ceiling. i use tacks to attach the fleece to the wall but i am afraid that anything i hook to the ceiling might fall.

What I came up with was to screw five little 2inch wide blocks of wood into the ceiling...
Four blocks to form a square... you know, kind of one block of wood in each corner of an imaginary square. Than the last block of wood screw in the middle of your imaginary square... then you can take a peice of pvc coated cage wire (whatever size you need it to be) and screw it into the 5 blocks of wood on the ceiling with some cheap little plastic hanger thingys (sorry dont know what their called... some people use them to attach wires to walls to keep them out of the way... they loop around the wire and can be screwed in). It makes a great way to hang toys and whatever else you can come up with and only puts the 5 screw holes in the ceiling. Its good for walls too, not only ceilings.

The wooden blocks keep the cage wire off the surface of the ceiling so that you can hang stuff easily and move it all around and change it up. (the center block just provides more support and keeps the wire from pulling and sagging in the center. )

I attached a crummy pc drawn pic (I hurried, so its not the best pic in the world...lol) so maybe it might be easier to understand what Im talking about. Dont know if this will help you or not.

that's a wonderful idea BMXgirl! I have been wondering how to hang hardware cloth from the ceiling for months now. sadly, i live in an apartment and the owners would fall over if they came in and saw that! ha!

the picture was super helpful for me

If this room has a window, make a glider safe curtain out of fleece, attatch toys or rings to hang toys. My love the curtain rod. This will not add any holes but a lot of play space. Also, use door hooks (the kind that hang over the top of the door and still allow it to close ) and make a large playmat on it, or hang strips of fleece off of them. Let your imagination run wild. Have fun.

OOOohh, I love thinking about things like this! Even though I dont have my own house yet, I will soon enough (hopefully within the next 6 months) I cant wait to have a room dedicated to my gliders(the top half since they like to be up high) and rabbits. Of course the rats will be in there too, but they'll all get separate play times, cept the rabbits will get free time 24/7. Anyway, lol I am constantly thinking of all the fun and neat ideas for the room. Im definately going to do the fleece thing hanging from the celing and walls, and of course I bought the tower from Ikea with all the compartments in it. I even bought a little tent for the rabbits to play in(they love to go in and out of the tent I put up for the gliders) so of course, when I move out Im going to be coming back here for more ideas! All the ideas so far are awesome. Makes me even more anxious to find a place!
