Going to be setting up my cage pretty soon for my gliders which are comming mid January. I want the inside of the cage as natural as possible. With lots of plants and branches. I would obviously still have a wheel in the cage as well as some pouches. Has anyone been able to do something like this with some success? Also are plastic plants ok?

Make sure the plants you use are completely glider safe and non toxic. Plastic or silk plants are fine to use but the gliders will strip off the leaves. I have tried to use the silk plants and found within a day or two, the plants were bare but their pouches were well lined!

Will they strip and kill normal plants to? Cause that could get very costly

Yes, they will. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

If you did decide to use natural plants, you would have to be very cautious that neither the plant nor the soil were toxic.

Guess the natual forest look is out of the question then since I would cost me a fortune to replace plastic or silk plants every few days. I will have to think of something else then.

Thanks for the info.

If you use fake plants, make sure there are no wires. Also, last year I found a bunch of fake ivy like vines at a garage sale. They were only used in a wedding. I bought a bunch and dunked them in a 5 gallon bucket of soapy water. Then rinsed and hung outside to dry in the sun. Michaels craft store usually has a coupon for 40 or 50% off one item each week in my paper. That would be a good cheap way to stock up on fake vines or plants. And yes, they have stripped the leaves off, but it was cheap.

I buy the long plastic vines at dollarama. They are safe to use, and inexpensive to replace if picked apart after a few months!
