I am posting this for a member that felt they could not post this information. This is just a very sad accident.

The member had 2 gliders and has 2 dogs. She had a can of MACE in a LEATHER sack hanging on the back of her BACK door. While she was gone (about 3 hours) her dogs somehow got the bag with the mace in it and punctured the mace can.
When she came home the gliders were dead. The dogs eyes were red and the house had to be opened for ventalation. The dogs are OK now but she has lost the gliders. The bag with the mace was at the FAR end of the house way away from the gliders. It has been there for a long time.

This was an accident. I dont know that I would have thought of something like this ever happening. But they do.

The Member asked me to post this so others could be alert to ALL possible dangers in and about the house. We all have somethings that we take for granted and never think would affect our animals. So the member asked that all look around and take precautions.

This is a very sad time for this person.

I'm very sorry for their loss There's no way they could have known that something like this could happen. It was a tragic accident. My deepest condolences

Oh, Ellen, this is so sad. My heart just breaks for her loss.

Right now there are few words that will express how sad we all are, but please let her know that our thoughts are with her.

I never know what to write about when something like this happens. The odds of this happening are very slim, it was just a freak accident. I am so sorry to hear about the gliders and I am glad to hear the dogs are ok. Animals are just like kids, they can get into anything. Sometimes there is just no way of realizing anything harmful is around. My condolences.

How sad, but informative. I guess a regular check for possible hazards is a good idea. What other things could be fatal to gliders if released into the air?
