Is it all right to put a blanket over the gliders' cage at night?
I ask this because I am trying to decide whether I should put the cage in my room or in our rec room. My mom works the graveyard shift and comes home at night and turns the lights on. I would put the blanket over the cage to shield them from the light.
I would rather put the gliders in the rec room and put the blanket over their cage but I want to make sure it's safe.

You need to be very careful about which materials to use that they will have access to so their nails will not get caught.

Do you mean their claws? I could just use a big fleece blanket! (= Will they be able to breathe?

Yes I meant their nails. Yes they will be able to breathe. Even a sheet will do just something to diffuse the light.

What do you consider a good material vs. a bad material.

I put a fleece blanket over our cage when their joeys were just OOP to keep the drafts out. The gliders seemed to like to crawl under the blanket and play all over it. I never had a problem. Diane

I have a blanket/sheet over my cage. Mostly to keep food/pee/poo off the walls, it's just plain cotton material, they have never got caught in it.

My spoiled glider WILL NOT come out of her cage unless I have something covering the top. I used a regular plain material ( kinda like sheet fabric) and when it is being washed, I use a sheet. She likes to have 3 sides covered ( top, back, and 2 sides) and the front open so she can see me .

If you do keep a blanket over the cage are you supposed to leave it on all the time? Or like just during the day.... or just at night?
