#32243 - 12/23/04 06:48 PM Question about OOP Baby and In Pouch Baby?
Anonymous

Ok Im wondering. I have heard many confusing things. Some posts I read said if you leave the joey until it is 8 wks OOP the mom will not likely get Pregnant again. Others say the mom can and will get PRegnant at any time and can have joey of different ages in the Pouch.
Which is correct?

And more importantly, I read how easily this little baby can come off the nipple if touched or if a person pulls on the pouch to look in, etc. However, Im wondering if Syd might not be Pregnant again becasue Oscar was breeding her a few days before he was neutered. So in the event she is, how is it that when Baby Echo who was OOP Nov 6 does not hurt the joey in her pouch when he goes back in to nurse. He really pulls on her pouch and sticks his head all in there so then the joey on the nipple must be on there pretty good so to speak to stand up to that kind of tugging and digging from Echo.

So can someone please clarify these questions for me.
Thanks! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thanx.gif" alt="" />

It depends on how tightly the baby is latched on in the beginning.

Right now...one of my females has a little joey who is not quite three weeks oop. and also has twins that are about a week and half along inside the her pouch. SO....she is actually nursing three babies.

So, if the tiny ones are latched on properly they usually can stay latched on dispite the abuse of an older joey who is still nursing. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/heartpump.gif" alt="" />

Ok so this is possible. Syds pouch is looking a little fatter and she is getting skinnier. Is this normal if she has babies in pouch and nursing 2 or 3. My mom said she does not look underweight and its probably a result of nursing the baby. What do you think. When I hold her she just feels kinda light.

If she is looking a little light to you, you might want to supplement her diet by sprinkling Wombaroo or a similar product on top of her food. Its possible that the weight loss, if there even is any, is just stress related from nursing 3 joeys. I also leave food out for my pregenant/nursing females so that they always have something there.
