Zoe always chews on my hands and marks me every morning when I get her out to put her in her bonding pouch. It's sort of our ritual, she has to make sure I smell like her before she goes to sleep for the day. Well, last night she got a mate & today she didn't bite or mark me! Is our bond going to change because she's forming a new bond with Smeagol?

I honestly dont' know the answer to that one. I'm waiting to see what happens if we successfully pair Riker with Myst. Haven't a clue. Wish I could help on this one.

When I put my two gliders, Ponchess and Poncho together, Ponchess, my first glider bonded with the new glider but her bond with me did not change at all.

I'll let you know too if anything changes with Tink and I, because she just began living with Flurry a couple of days ago. Once thing I HAVE noticed is that she notices what a crabby boy he is. He crabs when you open the pouch, and she did it this morning! She NEVER crabs!! But she still jumps on me when I go to the cage and wants to snuggle and stay with me, so that hasn't changed. He on the other hand, will sometimes follow where she goes but he doesn't willingly come to me yet. Maybe he'll learn from her.

My first glider Brodey slowly changed the year after I got him a mate. He was very strongly bonded to me when I first got him, but now he isn't quite as bonded to me and prefers Honey's company over mine. I am still his "mommy", but my little boy is growning up... He's still very obedient and comes when he's called and does as he's told for the most part, but if I offer him a pouch with Honey in it and my bra to sleep in, he'll choose Honey every time. It really hurt at first because he is my baby, but now I've just learned that he doesn't love me less, our relationship changed, that's all...

Leyna, How old was Brodey when Honey came along? I wonder if he was just growing up? Since it happened slowing over a year's time, it just made me think maybe it was just him going through adolescence, if he was the right age for that.
I'm planning to get a rescue buddy for Peeps soon. I hope she won't change too much. I love her just as she is (except when she mauls my back by crawling around in my robe like she did this morning, Ouch! Time for a pedicure.).

Brodey was a little over 2 years old when I got Honey, so he was more or less all grown up. He's started his own family now, which I think is kind of a natural process with any animal. He still loves me and he loves to be babied on, but he has his wifey to think about now

Peeper, what to compare scratch marks?????? Dayla did a number on me!!!!!!!! It wasn't to bad until my hubby decided to rub some lotion on my back!! Talk about burn!!!!!!!!!
I love how their/our relationships change. I think it is a natural part of any relationship whether human/human, animal/animal or human/animal. They start their families and their attention is a bit divided but that doesn't mean they love any less. We just have to learn to share with others and that isn't always easy to do. Be happy they have a partner to love now.

Well, it's been a few days now & I haven't been marked once! She still enjoys a good chin rub, though! The good part is that Smeagol is happy as can be! He's playing again & eating well (I'll have to weigh him soon) and he just loves her to pieces. I'm so glad he's not depressed anymore!
