#40898 - 03/23/05 04:18 PM Neutered Rubbing?

I've noticed our neutered male rubbing himself on things alot lately. Last few nights when I've let him out he'll walk up next to the closet door and tilt his whole body to one side and scruuuuuub along it, then run off and play. I checked him for mites, but didn't see anything. He did it again last night, then I saw him rub the other side of his body down the side of the mattress on the bed ... and then again along a folded area on a blanket.

Do they retain a rubbing instinct or do they scratch like a cat along things?

My neutered male does this. It could just be habit if he got neutered after maturing fully, or it could be instinct. When my male really wants to scent something though, he pees then mops up the pee with his chest and goes rubbing everything in sight. I then quickly have to wash him up before he gets everything wet. I don't think there's anything wrong with your boy.

Okay. He's done the pee thing too. I just thought he'd taken a leak and walked in it accidentally.

They're odd sometimes. 80% of the time they let us know when they want to use the bathroom. It's not "potty training" but they jump off of us and look around in a certain way before they go. At first we'd pick them back up again and they'd pretty much shrug and pee on my arm. I eventually learned to let them do their business. Usually I can even get them to the cage. Then sometimes he'll just pee right on me and walk around on it.

That sounds about right. He's a normal glider alright. I always know when my gliders are about to go because they get really still and their tails pick up and form a V...they always have this look of pure bliss cracks me up as I'm racing for the cage. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
