#42810 - 04/08/05 12:40 PM How hot is too hot to take them out with me?

A new question occurred to me this morning as I woke up and found that it was a LOT warmer today than past mornings-

I live in West Texas, and summer is going to be coming soon! The bonding pouch is of course the heavy fleece, with the mesh vent.. but I imagine that vent isn't going to do much once the weather tops 80 degrees F.

Our house will be cooled by swamp cooler and A/C, and most buildings I go into will be too.. but there will be those moments between buildings or before car cools down, etc.

Is there a safe material or way to make a lighter weight pouch? Should I just start leaving my babies home once it gets to a certain temperature outside? And what temperature about would be the 'bad' mark to watch out for?

I thought I knew a lot about suggies.. LOL.. but seems like every day I'm realizing I need to ask about something ^^;

I live in Florida so I feel your pain! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumb.gif" alt="" />

Last summer I used a Glider go bag from Chey (not sure if she makes them anymore as mine have lasted me a whole year with no problems). It has a bnding pouch that fits inside a bigger pouch. To keep it cool you place these little freezable packs on the outside pockets of the bag. It keeps it cool insdie for them when it's hot outside. I also made sure to take water and grapes with me and make frequent checks for who needs something. I also never took them with me if I knew I was going to be outside for very long and I would cool my car off before I went out there with the gliders. As long as you know you are going to be in A/C for most of the time you'll be fine. Or I'm sure you could ask any of the vendors that sell your favorite pouch if they could make you one in cotton.

It shouldn't really matter so much if you use your fleece pouch if you are not going to be in the heat very long.

I just use cotton or flannel with fleece lining & a window. & I make sure to have water with me. Last Sept. I was in TN with Monster for gracieangel's wedding & OMG I thought I was gonna die - I was literaly melting! But Monster was was happy as a clam! I think we underestimate how much they love warmth!
