#44806 - 05/02/05 08:51 PM Cages or not?

One last question before I hit the sack tonight..

Do you have to keep your gliders in cages, or can you let them free roam in a room in your house, or free roam in your house? (providing its fully glider-proof)

Can they be trained to use a litter tray to do their business in? otherwise I guess if you could let them free roam your house, you'll end up with lots of droppings everywhere!

No they can not be potty trained, they go whenever they feel like it, usually mine wait till they are on my shoulder. I would not recommend letting them roam free around your house. Even if you would try to glider prrof your whole house there would still be things they would get into.

Letting a glider run free in your house would be like letting a 2 year old who can, jump 10 feet, glide and run faster then you roam free.

*Bad idea*

Gliders can not be litter trained. There are afew people here who have glider-proofed rooms, but they still have cages. They let the kids out during supervised times only.

We usually let our babies out in our room for a few hours a day. But yes, they still have a cage where they spend a good deal of time. We wear them during their sleeping hours ... which is a wonderful way to interact with them. They wake up occassionally throughout the day for snacks and potty breaks and water, so you can have fun feeding them and playing with them a little. Ours are on a strange schedule lately, so they're still asleep at 10pm. We just gave them a little dish of fruit-juice for a drinky-treat before they went back in the pouch.

Yesterday they accidentally got left out in the bedroom all day. I thought the wife had put them up, she thought I'd put them up. Went to go to bed at 3am (seminar paper season) and the cage door is standing open. I figured I'd have to look all over for them, but I reached into the sleepy-hutt and they were both in there sound asleep.
