I hate to ask about something that has already been posted about, but I can't find it! So, a while back someone posted about some kind of paper you can get in bulk that was good as well as safe and inexpensive to put in the litter pan on the bottom of the cage. Does anyone remember what it was? I'm thinking it was similar to the sheets of paper moving companies use.

If anyone knows or remembers, please let me know! My monthly paper towel bill is growing faster than my joeys! I don't like the aspen shavings because they throw them all over and I'm too lazy to raise my cage floors any higher!

go to your local newspaper and ask for the extra blank rolls they have leftover. I got one for $2 at ours and with four cages it still lasted me months and months.

you can also buy puppy pads in bulk on ebay. That is what I used to use until they got their new enclosures

also, just news papers work. The inks now are vegitable inks and are safe (the black and white papers, not the semi-shiny ones).

I just use paper towels and I sprinkle some baking soda on top.

I think so but I still try to change the paper every other day.I'm sure once I get another glider it will be more stinky!

I don't have a problem with odor or anything. I've been putting down puppy pads and then paper towels over them. That way I can lift off the grungiest layer everyday without having to change the whole thing everyday.

This paper this person was talking about had a weird name. Oh well, I could always switch to cheaper paper towels I guess. I don't get the newspaper because I can't stand newspaper ink on my hands. I know, I know.

Do you put the papers under the bars or on the bars? Our cage has a pan that slides out under the bars. I bought incontinence pads (they are the exact same size as the cage tray) and put one on the tray under the bars. Well, the bars are now really messy and I am going to have to clean them. Can I lay the pad on on top of the bars (just put it in the bottom of their cage)? I hope so. It would eliminate a lot of cleaning. I feel like this is a stupid question, but I would appreciate it if someone could explain this to me.

I'm guessing when you say on top of the bars, you mean directly on the floor of the cage? If so, they will shred it like crazy and you will have an even bigger mess!
I put mine inside the tray and the tray slides between the cage floor and the bottom of the cage.

My glider pulled the paper towel up through the bottom grate and made a horrible mess, something she never does to newspaper.

OK. I guess I'll keep it under the bars then. Thanks.

This is the problem I'm having and it's driving me nuts! The floor is already 3" above the paper towels. I think their little arms must be made of elastic! I may try the blank newspaper that was mentioned earlier!

the only things that have worked for me are plain newspaper (i'll actually tape it to the tray) and steam rolled oats... the oats are my the household fave and we use them with our bird and the gliders

I used to use either paper towels or that gray carefresh bedding you buy at petsmart. The bedding works great and absorbs a lot of the odor and easy to clean.
