I was wondering what the difference is between WF and WFB?
is it a particular gene that differentiates the two or is it just a color variation non-gene related?

and then buttercream and lion or buttercream lion....is that just a lighter shade of lion? and does the label "buttercream" ONLY pertain to lions?

I know alot of questions smile sorry!

A WF is the same color as a standard, the only difference is the lack of bars under the ears. A WFB is a WF that also has a really light-colored body.

Here's a pic of the girl I'm getting, she's a WFB:

And here's a pic of the WF I have(she's the one facing the camera. Sorry, I don't have any good body pics):

I have always seen "buttercream" used to describe a gray glider that has tinges of cream or yellow (moreso than a "standard gray.") I personally haven't heard of a buttercream lion. As for lions, I have heard them described as having a more golden color around the head; personally, from pictures, I have trouble distinguishing them from normal grays or buttercreams. Then again, I have been told you need to see one in person to really see what it looks like. Perhaps this is true, or perhaps it's a way to make money...I dunno dunno

Here's a picture of my glider Kirby. His breeder referred to him as a buttercream (one of his parents was one), but I wasn't charged any extra money for him (I was never actually looking for a buttercream...he just happened to be one!). I will try to find and post a picture where you can see the yellowish tinge to him. He is really not much "yellower" than my standard gray gliders though; he has gotten even less "creamy" when we switched from BML to our current diet now.

WF versus WFB is an opinion. The lack of the bar under the ear makes it a WF, but the "blonde" part of WFB is an opinion. What one person thinks is blonde, another won't. I refer to all mine as WF just so that I don't get people disagreeing with me over the blonde or not part. Personally what I think makes a WF beautiful is the least amount of facial marking, especially around the eyes.

The red "colors"- lion, cinnamon, buttercream etc, again are opinion. I personally have had really bad luck with reds- the ones I've had, all were gorgeous when I got them, and faded to normal grey. It could be diet, it could be care, it could just plain be genetics that made them gorgeous babies that faded to grey as adults, same as humans sometimes start out blonde and turn to brunettes later on.

My personal opinion is that reds, and even "blonde" or sunkissed WFs, should not have any price differences based on color. It may or may not stay that way.

I think this is why Kirby was sold to me as the same price as this breeder's standard grays. He does look a bit different to me, but not enough that I'd pay a lot of extra cash for him; plus, he has definitely changed with diet. I agree with your opinion. I have seen some REALLY reddish gliders in pictures in other countries, but most of the ones I see here labeled as lions or cinnies look...well, pretty gray.

He is a cutie mlove and a stinker! He has been so hard to catch at playtime lately...little doofus tounge

I have seen a lot of what I would consider to be "White Face Grays" being called "White Face blonde." I definitely agree that it's pretty subjective.

thank you so much, that clears up alot grin I'm getting a little WF/poss 50% leu het girl from To & Fro and she is gorgeous and very light in her over all coloring..I hope she stays that way smile

and then my little boy who I'm adopting from Julie (partyofsix) was described as a WFB/poss buttercream lion because his markings are very light but he definately has a beautiful cream coloring to his face! and both have very little markings on their face (if any at all)!

I can't wait til the day I bring them home!!!!
