I want to make my little darling (soon to be darlings) some toys and a jungle gym and was wondering what kind of rope would be safe to use for them-I am using zip ties for part of the jungle gym but I would like to use rope for for swinging toys!-Thanks for any suggestions you can offer

I use satin ribbon if I am going to be covering it with pony beads. Also sisel (sp?) rope is good. Just avoid rope that could catch little toe nails.

I read on some one's post (I don't remember who's) that hemp rope/twine is okay. I have read it is a non toxic/benign substance. Does anyone else think this would be okay to use? Thanks for your time! [:"purple"] [/] javascript:void(0)

I am not sure hemp is safe , but sisal rope is very similar, and is definately safe!

I know some people use hemp for bird toys, but i use cotton, and hide the knots with in the beads a small hole bead and shove it in with a needle thing i have, not sure what it is..oh and i use 100% cotton, ribbon is a good one too. Karin, whats your opinion on sisal in sturdiness?, i have never used it, and i was thinking about trying it.

Thanks you guys, I will have to look up sisal rope online to see what it looks like (so I can find it)-but I am glad to know it is glider approved! 100% cotton makes a lot of sense to me as well, as long as they can't get their feet stuck in it- Now to start my toy making! [:"purple"] [/]

Sisal is awesome as far as sturdiness . It is very similar looking to Hemp. I found it at Wal Mart in the hardware section somewhere. Have fun making toys . Karin
