I wanted to share some videos of my husband, Jerald, feeding our 2 rejected joeys. The first video is of Princess. Princess was out of pouch on 6/12/05 and her mom, Juliette was a SM that we got in a little while back. We were unable to do a tail amputation or put on a e-collar due to the joey in the pouch. I did wound care and kept her with me to make sure she was not chewing on herself. She was being a good mom till 3 days out of pouch when she and dad would leave Princess, and refussed to feed her or keep her warm. Princess was 14 grams out of pouch and is now at 20 grams and doing great. Please ignore the sounds of our new cockatiel, she just laid an egg and was making a fuss. Thank goodness we don't have a male so we won't be having any baby birds.
Click here to see video ( I hope it works!)

This video is of Prince. Prince was out of pouch on 6/15/05 and he was rejected within the first hour. His dad was netuered some time ago after they rejected thier brother, KC who we also hand fed. He was 14 grams out of pouch and is now at 18 grams and doing great! He is just like his brother, always on the go, go, go. Both joeys are eating every 45 mintues to an hour and keeping us very busy Click here to see the video
I hope you will enjoy the video, these are the first ones I have ever done.
I will be adding some to my rejected joey page showing how we feed in detail, potty the joeys, ect.

The videos did not work for me. It is probaly because of my mac computer, it does thing like that sometimes.
I know how it is feeding that often, I had to feed the baby mockingbird I found every 15 minutes the first day, and every 30 minutes for about two weeks, and then every hour for about 1 more week, it was really fun though.
Do you have to feed them during the night?

Yes, we feed them all night. I do the 6:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. shift and then Jerald does the 6:00 PM to 6:00 A.M. shift. During the day, I clean one cage then feed the babies, then clean another cage. If I am lucky I can do a little house cleaning in between, lol. Hopefully they will be eating on thier own soon as I can't leave Jerald with 2 babies to feed and 84 other gliders to care for when I go to the SGGA. If they arn't then I may just bring them with me and ask for everyones help,
We arn't getting much sleep here. I usually get to bed about midnight then up at 5 to make coffee and visit with Jerald before he goes to sleep. I am so happy though the babies are doing so well, Princess is a night owl and always eats better at night while Prince couldn't care less.

Awwww!
Look at those little ones gobble up their food!
And look at how Jerald wipes Princess's mouth so sweetly and gently in the one video, and how he rubs her head.
You can tell their loved.

Those are great videos Angie.

Great job on the videos. Seeing joeys being hand feed is a big help and so much easier to understand with what we read. Glad to hear they are doing so good. Hope you can get some extra sleep soon .

Thank you for the videos. Those took all of the guess work out of just how to do it.

Presently I am handfeeding a 3 week OOP male joey who is a runt for his age. He weighs only 16 grams at the moment, and that video was helpful as to how to hold the joey while feeding. This lil Spitfire would squirm during the feeding, so I had him wrapped in a fleece blanket and he ate really well this way. I tried to hold him without the blanket and he would just squirm his way out of my gentle grip (or is it too gentle a grip?) and I ended up having to wrap him with the fleece blanket.

Thanks, Angie and Jerald, for the wonderful videos you have done so you could help further our education about feeding rejected joeys. Your dedication and love for these gliders are unsurpassed and you certainly hold my high respect, Angie and Jerald! Much kudos to both of you!

Great job Angie and Jerald! I had no idea these little guys ate so frequently, and you have shown just how to do it! These are great instructional videos for any one of us who may face a rejected joey situation. Your dedication and commitment to these littles ones is awesome.
