I'm not sure and this may be gross but mommy stimulates the baby to releave him/her self and while stimulating mommy pretty much takes care of that if you get what I'm saying. I think I'm not 100% on that though but if I'm wrong someone will be along and correct me.

Hmmm, thanks Platinum. Now that you said that, it kinda rings a bell for me...not so much with gliders, but I think I heard that about some other marsupial. Anybody...can you confirm this?

Tiny babies in the mother's pouch are unable to defecate or urinate unless the mother cleans them... thus stimulating them to potty while she is washing them as well as the inside of the nursery(pouch). <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumb.gif" alt="" />

most animals are like this. Dogs, cats, gliders, you name it. It is a safety measure as well, with no fecal matter from the babies lying around, predators have a harder time finding the den/nest/whatever.
