#54105 - 08/14/05 05:17 PM Room Temp? A/c or not?

Ok, so my babies are home, in my room. I have the A/C on low but I am worried that it is too cold for them, but without it my room is very hot & stuffy. This summer has been terrible! I had it on last night but turned it off during the night because it got chilly. It's been on & off all day today but I have to work tomorrow and won't be home to check the temp. Any suggestions?

As I understand things, the optimal temp range is 70-85 degrees. 85 is a bit warm for most of us, and because our 'lil buddies tend to sleep all day snuggled in their pouches they should be plenty warm if it gets to 70. Maybe give an extra scrap of fleece blanket to use if they get cold.

I bought, for $50, a thermostat that plugs into a wall socket, and you plug your A/C unit power into it. You set the target temp, and it turns on power to your unit when the it gets 4 degrees over setting, and off again when it's 3 degrees cooler. It's generally used for brewing beer in a refrigerator so you can keep it at a constant temp....

Also, keep any fans in the home on.....See Ya!

I have heard about the same thing. The temp. range for gliders should be 66-88 degrees. On the lower end, I would also offer then a fleece blankie to sleep with inside of their fleece pouch. On the higher side, make sure they have enough fresh air in the pouch or nest box. If they get too hot, they will get dehydrated.

I have the a/c on in my apartment and it is automatically set for 72 degrees. It's a little cold for me, but my b/f loves it... I think my gliders love it too. :o)
