The following link will take you to a page that tells you some good information about galvanization: http://www.birdsnways.com/wisdom/ww14eii.htmHere is some information about the galvanization process: http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-galvaniz...w=galvanizationThose of you who are using galvanized cage wire (hardware cloth not coated with PVC) are using steel coated with zinc. That is what it means to be galvanized...it is all the same thing. It is my feeling that no animal should be put in harms way for any reason, especially by his or her owner. Even if you haven't experienced problems YET with galvanized wire, why take the chance. Spend the extra money and buy the PVC coated stuff and redo the cage your little gliders live in. It is NOT fair to keep them in a cage that could potentially cause them harm. Hopefully we are all responsible enough to take care of things that we know are bad and replace those things. Yes, I am in the process now of redoing my cage and it WASN'T that expensive. Call around and get prices on the PVC coated stuff, it was really easy and cheap. Main point: GET RID OF THE GALVANIZED WIRE...IT CAN AND WILL HARM YOUR GLIDERS AND SHOULD NOT BE USED!!!

Hey thegreybarron, you sound upset, and I didn't mean to upset you if my replies were the ones that did. I was just trying to educate myself further.
I am curious as to where I can find inexpensive PVC coated wire like the one you are using. I have searched all around here and none of the places carry the measurements I need for my cage. Also, they are running about $20.00 or higher for 4 ft. I would need over $100.00 worth if I were to do that and it still would not be as big as I have it now. Please help if you can. Thanks so much.

thegreybarron- I aggre with you but we can't get too upset if people can't afford it- I know when I first got my suggie- the breeder did not tell me about this-he himself isn't using safe wire. I am lucky to have found this website. I had already spent over 50 dollars making a cage and it was not big at all! ONce I read everything here- I ran to get a new one, Luckily I was able to afford one-well not really I spent my savings on it-150 I know it is not much but I am so in debt. But I had to wait for two weeks since I had just purchased my suggie. But thanks for putting up the info. And again- I do agree with you. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumb.gif" alt="" />
