I have a little White Face female who is 2 weeks oop. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/heartpump.gif" alt="" /> Just noticed today that she has bands on her tail.

Lineage is a 3rd generation WF Blonde x to a 50% Leucistic Het whose parents were a 100% Leucistic Het x Mosaic. The Blonde I purchased from Sheila and the Het from Priscilla.

Bands are black and starting to fill in with silver hair. It will be interesting to see just how silver the tail may become.

Anyway... enjoy the photos.

Lineage of the little WF girl with the banded tail is as follows:

Mother: Sharie 3rd generation WF Blonde
Father: Running Bear, 50% Leucistic Het/100% Mosaic Het(?)

Grandparents on Father's side:

Sapphire, 100% Leucistic Het (Her parents are Sesamie, BEW and Sandman, WF Blonde)

Prince, Mosaic who was produced by Snow White, White Mosaic

Grandparents on Mother's lineage:

Violet, WF Blonde 2nd generation
Potipher, WF Blonde 2nd generation

Not much is know about the Mosaic gene... however, my guess is it is an incomplete dilute gene. However, I am not sure.

WOW! Now, try working out the genetics to that! LOL Like I said, so complex but still oh so beautiful!

<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yelclap.gif" alt="" /> Judie, congrats on the miracle! That's wonderful!

Judie
I think you might have made a little mistake.
Sapphire is a het for leucistic right?
She's also a wfb too?
You had her listed as a BEW, I think you meant to put wfb het for leucistic, eh? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Yeah, you've got quite the genetic stew brewing!

Do you think that some of the mosaic genes may have trickled down to affect that tail?
I've never really looked at the mosaic gliders tails. Do they get patchy or banded?

I've got a pretty similar glider grouping going on to what you have.
I have Ike(who is Sharee's brother)with two females who are babies from Sparkle and Twinkle(Snow White's daughters, both mosaics) and Viceroy (100% het from Sammie and Minnie). I just put them together yesterday. Poor Ikey had to wait so long for a lady, I'm glad he's not by himself anymore. Maybe I'll get lucky and get a baby as pretty as yours!

I'm anxious to see what that tail turns out like <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumb.gif" alt="" />

Oppps! Shame on me. I corrected my post. And yes, Sapphire is a 100% Leucistic Het. However, she does not have the WF Blonde trait or at least it is not visible.

Yes, her genes are like a pot of mixed veggie soup.

By the way... little one's name is Bandie. And I wonder why? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/roflmao.gif" alt="" />

Thanks for sharing the picture. The WF trait is full of suprises. I am not going to even try to guess at this because it seems to be rare and the lineage data is very small in comparison to WF. I think though you might be correct but how many genes, which genes are important, ect... can only be proved out through furture breedings. Try placing this girl with some homozygous gliders of some of the genes in the mix and see if she actually is het for some of these genes.

Judie, What a beautiful little girl. I just love her name too. Bandie fits her to a tee.
