I need some advice. My Bella died today. I don't know why but her mate, Edward, killed their 3 month old joey today. I knew it was almost time to remove the older joeys but I guess I waited too long. He tore him all up and I didn't see any wounds on Bella but I found her tonight and she had joeys. They are pink with no signs of hair and little bitty. I removed them from her pouch and am now warming them in fleece on a heating pad. Each has taken about .1 cc of joey formula. Is there any tips or suggests to help me keep these little babies alive. I have read Suz's page and I am following what she has said.

Thanks for any help
Kandice

I don't have Suz's number but someone should have it...I'm sure she won't mind if you call her...is it on her website?

Please don't hesitate to call her, she is great with things like this. I wish I knew how to help you but I don't know much about babies. Hang in there, you are doing great keeping them warm.

Im so sorry for your loss and what you are going thru. Suz is the best help you can find for the little ones. she will know what to do. I have taken care of premature joeys but they had some hair so were older. Do the best you can and know that that small and no hair they are very premee. Sending thoughts and hugs to you as well as prayers. Please keep us updated.

Although the answering machine picked up during the night, whoever tried to call didn't leave a message and I didn't hop out of bed quick enough to grab the phone, nor did the cell phone ring dunno Was that you, by any chance? If the joeys are still alive, please try to call me this morning if you still have questions...
It is very hard to get pink joeys to survive, but it has happened upon rare occasion. The key is to keep them warm enough and to give them very small amounts of formula at a time...

Thank you everyone for your hugs and concern. thanks

Suz- I did try to call you around 11:30 central but as the phone was ringing I noticed one baby not moving. So I which focus to the babies again and was going to try your cell but both didn't make it so there was no need to wake you.

I am sorry I did not get back on here to let everyone know but I was very upset and just wanted to cry myself to sleep. upset Bella was my baby, I carried her in my bra almost everywhere. None of my other gliders will let me do that, yet. I knew in my heart that the joeys were just too premature for me to save but I tried. I just wish I would have removed the older joeys sooner from them. Now, I have Edward by himself and Rosalie by herself (but as soon as she is a little older she will go in with my Gambit).

Shoot, I have to get ready for work...Thanks again everyone.

This is why I won't breed. With the local sugar glider breeder (breeders are few and far between around here) moving I've become the sugar glider nut to call. I just can't breed though because I know I'd be just like you, KayKay. I'd do everything in my power to help the poor things and end with my heart broken. Not to mention the loss of your big girl and her older joey. It's all just too painful. I know it's nature but it's awful.

I'm so, so sorry. What an awful thing to go through.

KayKay, my heart cries for you...to lose one of your "favorite" fuzzfaces is sad enough, then to lose 3 of her joeys as well... cry

I'm sorry. I don't know what else to say.

Im so sorry for your loss but know you did your very best with the little ones but they were just too young to make it. Your bra baby and her baby knew how much you loved them and they are looking down on you know with love. Many hugs.

Well, tonight I was giving my extra attention to my furbutts that are okay and I discovered that it was Bella and her daughter, Rosalie and not Jasper that died. Edward was very snuggly tonight. Once again thank you for everyones help.

I am so sorry to hear that your little Bella died, with such small joeys.

What a horrible loss for you to lose all of them.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. I hope the joey that survived, and the father, will be okay.

Is there any way of knowing what caused Bella to die? Did you know she had joeys before you found her? Is it possible that Edward panicked when he discovered Bella had passed and that could be what caused him to turn on the others? I don't mean to bring up any harmful thoughts as I know it must be difficult for you right now.

I'm just asking because I have 2 young female joeys and an older male. All 3 are unrelated. I've been fortunate enough to never have had any problems with raising joeys, but then I read stories like this happening, and wonder if mine will be okay. So it concerns me to know what signs to look for, if I ever have to prevent something like this from happening.

My older boy is still in the cage with his parents. He's about 4 months oop. I've been trying to find a new home for him but so far no real luck.

I did not know about the joeys in pouch. They were very small. I don't think Edward had anything to do with it I think Bella and Rosalie were fighting. My daughter saw them but didn't understand how bad it could get. Edward and his son, Jasper seem fine just needing more snuggling than they normally do. I am going to get them a vet check appointment on Monday for them both. My other gliders are all doing great. I loved having the one set of joeys but now I am going to get these two males nuetured and no more breeding. I can't take this again. I will stick with breeding dogs or G pigs.
