Ok! I am trying to start off on the right foot for my glider (when I get him or her). I would like to know what the best kind of toys (not expensive) are and as for pouches what are easier to replace or buy etc. I have seen the flannel type and the other that are out there. I am worried about stray strings and if my little one chews on it and well, you know the concerns since you have probably had them at one time or another. Please respond.

Lets see as far as the best kind of toys gliders seem to love feathers, and I know of alot of people giving there gliders the barale of monkeys which can be bought from a dollar store. Also some ppl give there gliders those little plastic toy soldier men. Almost any bird toy will do. I also before giving them a toy make sure it doesnt contain any catnip, for that can be very poisonus.

Hi Racheal!

I love shopping for cool toys for my girls

I went out to Dollar Tree and Big Lots and found lotsa goodies! I found shower curtain rings, and attached them together to make a ladder. I would make sure they are hard plastic so they can't chew on them, and that they are large enough so your gliders won't get stuck in them.

I found Barrel o' Monkeys at Dollar Tree, and my girls just love em! I also found fluffy sparkly-balls (for crafts) that are big enough that my gliders won't try choking them down. I only use the sparkly-balls for tent time though...

Feathers are a great cheap toy! I have a large white undyed feather that is a big hit here

If you can find any tiny stuffed toys (that aren't beanie babies, have no loose threads or threads that may come loose) it's sooooo cute to see your suggies all curled up hugging them. lol Or you might see them attacking and trying to protect you from the vicious stuffed animals!
You can always try making the no-sew pouches, and maybe try making no-sew tunnels?

If you take three long strips of fleece and braid them together, you can attach clips on one end and hang it from the ceiling for a fun rope/swing!

There are so many things that can be fun for your gliders! I just wouldn't ever use cat toys. I found these adorable little balls, and it didn't say anything on the tag about catnip. This was before I got my gliders---I was worried that possibly there might be some catnip hidden in there, so I tore one apart, and sure enought there was a bunch in there! I immediately threw them all right in the trash, and vowed never to take a chance again! Catnip is deadly to gliders, and some companies will spray liquid catnip on so you have to be careful.

If you want a neat look, you can use plastic vines---BUT make sure they have no wire in them. Usually if they bend and stay bent they have wire in them. I know that gliderdaydreams.com has them but I think they might be out of stock....I really want to use some too!

I have feathered boas, and its so cute to see my two chasing them around and trying to latch onto it! lol I only use mine for tent time

Happy hunting for neat toys! And good luck with your suggies!

If you have a glider safe room that you cn play with your glider in thats great. But a lot of people don't have that........so they purchase a cheap tent from WalMart and go inside it to play. That way your glider can't get into trouble on bookshelves and such and he/she can climb all over you. Good bonding opportunity. Make sure the tent isn't one of those kid play tents. You need an actual tent with a zipper. Take some toys in there........fun time.
And don't feel stupid........how would anybody guess what tent time is?

Ok I see the post about the kid tents....But I have a kid tend with velcro along the bottom...I dont have room for a big tent. I just added some more velcro to teh bottom to keep it shut. I also attach velcro to the sides to put my toys up for my babies. I havent had any problems once I fixed it?

Now I understand! I wondered what that was and now I get it. Can you put toys hanging on the roof of the tent and stuff like that?

Yes. If you have lanyard hook/clips you can just hang them from the stiching. Also, if there is mesh on the top of your ten (most jr. dome tents do), you can slide keyring rings through them and hang your toys on them.

Melovesgliders (Kelly) here on GC makes these fun toys called Sugar Glider Loungin' Tree that has a hammock in the middle, and plastic chain links with fleece around them. They have 3 arms with cute toys hanging from them as well as one long limb on the bottom...

Wait, here is the pic. It worked great for my tent!!!!

Sorry, my green fleece toy might be in the way. The toy I was talking about is the blue and pink one!

That is a great idea!!! I like the idea of being able to hang toys and stuff from the ceiling of the tent. I just need to get a tent.

I have a lot of laddiers and bird perches. Also, lots of stuff with little mirrors and bells. They also like the little coconut hut I hang from the top of the cage. Here is a pic so you can see some of the toys I have. I also have a big feather tickler and barrel of monkeys that I find everywhere!

I love the toys that you have in your cage. Where do I order a coconut hut?

Ur cage is sooo cute Lexi. I love it!
Racheal, I have seen Cocohuts on ebay, just search for sugar glider. If u know someone w/ a drill U can make ur own by drying the coconut and then drilling the holes and cleaning it. I make coco swings by sawing it in half and cleaning it out, then drill holes for the cords to hang it.

For tent time I have a little red wagon.. but it is REALLY little. About eight inches long (Not including handle) and they love that, barrel of monkies. I actually found an old collapsing wine rack that I covered with knotted fleece scraps and the babies like climbing all around in there. Um.. a wheel.. poof balls.. I can't think of.. oh wait, the little toys you get at petco that have a few squirrel puppets and looks like a tee stump, that is a hit.

In the cages, I think everyone here has already mentioned everything really.
