#62169 - 10/11/05 01:42 PM Spinner... Wheel...

I have a Regualr Silent Spiner thats 6 12'' Wheel. Well I have tried to slowly spin the wheel while have my hand over the side and the sugar glider in it hoping he will get the hint that it goes round and round. It doesn't seem to work he trips or tys to climd on top and it will roll so he is on the bottom IDK how to describe it but he isn't good at it at all. How can I get him to love it. I seen the one's at the pet store use it like there wasn't a tomarrow. Do I need to have him see another glider do it and he will see how it works? I mean he sleeps in the wheel sometime IDk why he doesn't like the pouch but he will just bring what ever he can and makes a nest in it. IDK how to make it where he see it isn't a nest but a toy...

I don't know about the spinner, but our gliders all love their stealths- though sometimes they ride the outsides and not the insides.. on purpose... its cute.. soemtimes one will run on the inside and sometimes they just grab the outside for a ride to the bottom.. then back to the top to repeat.

How long have you had that particular wheel (and your glider)?

When I first got Jupiter her new wheel it took her a while to figure it out- but when I say a while I mean like an hour or so.

Maybe you're guy is just slower... maybe he uses it at night when you're sleeping!? He will eventually figure it out. I know what you mean about them sleeping in the wheel, Jupiter has done that before & I was worried about it but then I figured if she wants to sleep there and it makes her happy then so be it!

Maybe you might also have to try a different type of wheel?

I bought a Wodent Wheel and had it in the cage for a week and a half before my Mocha figured out it was a wheel for running in and not a place to lay and take a bath. He runs his little rear off every night now. His brother, Cocoa....has showed ZERO interest in it but I figure eventually he'll get it too. They do things in their own time.

He does try to ride the outside but he doesn't do such a good job of doing that. He tends to fall off when he trys that.

I have 3 silent spinners and they have all learned on their own how to use the wheel. It may take a little while until he or she figures it out. How old is your baby?

Nina wouldn`t run on her wheel until I brought Nicky home and when she saw him run on it, then they started to fight over who runs first lol. I have the wodent wheel but I want to upgrade to a better wheel since I heard of some accidents on it. I tried the Slient Spinner, the 6 1/2 inch one and they didn`t like it, I think it`s too small for them. I`m looking for the 12 inch one but having problems finding it. I think my wodent wheel is now too small for them as they have grown and I don`t think they enjoy it as much as they used to. I should`ve just started off with the large wheel right from the beginning. Maybe yours feel the same way about it? Maybe upgrade to a larger one, just a thought

I can get the 12" one for you either from my distributor or at work. PM me and I'll find out the price for you tomorrow.

I have the 12" Silent Spinner and only one of my gliders shows any interest. Max loves it but my problem is that when he spins on it the center peg keeps coming loose and then it makes so much noise it keeps waking me up! Plus the other night he actually got the wheel off the base. I am thinking of upgrading to a Stealth. Tonight I took the whole thing apart and put it back together, hopefully it is tight enough this time so Max can get his exercise & I can get some sleep.

How did the center piece come off? I have never had that happen. Man, you must have a sprinter on your hands! LOL

It's like it unscrews as he runs. I have no idea how he does it but he does get it going pretty fast and then gets flung across the cage only to start all over again. My little lunatic. LOL!

Yes, it's great fun to watch! They do the silliest things. I just sit on my bed and watch them all night. I really have to start getting some sleep but I can't resist.
Well, last night the wheel stayed in one piece so I guess I tighted it enough. time will tell.

If you can't fix it with duct tape and wd-40, don't buy it. LOL That's what Ben says all the time...

You should totally get a Stealth. They are worth twice their weight in gold. They're awesome! Your babies will have so much more fun in it than a Wodent Wheel. I had a WW at first and very quickly ditched it for a Stealth.

Eddy found the wheel in his cage! I would put his speed up against any gerbil! HA! He plays in that darn thing all night long! Just like everyone else, I just lay there all night and watch. No wonder I'm so tired!
