I purchased a lion/cinnamon baby boy. How long do you think it will be before he starts showing his colors? He is about 3 months old now.

#62417 - 10/13/05 12:30 AM Re: Babies Changing Colors [Re: ]

that is a hard one to say exactally when. usually by the time they are mature they will have the color. But keep in mind that just beause the parents were cinnie/lion doesn't make all the babies cinnie/lion. Do you have any pictures?

#62418 - 10/13/05 12:33 AM Re: Babies Changing Colors [Re: RSXTC]

What... really? So there is no guarantee that he will be colored? =(

#62419 - 10/13/05 01:25 AM Re: Babies Changing Colors [Re: ]

I personally don't think so.. I could be way wrong. If he was born with the color then yes he will be if. I have had people show me there gliders that they got as cinnies but they are just regular grays. The parents were cinnie and they were sold as cinnie but they really didn't get the color.

My joeys were very dark at 1 week OOP and at 5 weeks OOP they are getting lighter and lighter.

I don't think there is a garuntee that they will have the same colorings of mom and dad.

[:"green"]There is no way to guarantee that a joey will have the parents' coloring. I would say that your joey should already be showing its "true" colors by now. Most joeys appear to be cinnies when still nursing because they get stained by their mother's pouch scent gland. This coloring is usually only noticeable on the head and shoulders by the time they are 2-3 weeks o.o.p. It gradually goes away as the joey gets older and nurses less and less. For example, I have attached a picture of Adoni - Coobah & Carina's joey. If you look at his head, he appears to be a cinnie, but if you look further down - at his lower back, you can tell that he is actually a standard gray.
Do you have a picture of your joey? Maybe we could all take a look-see and let you know if he's going to be cinnie colored or standard gray...

Ohhh nooooo. I thought he was going to be colored because his parents are a cinnie and a lion.. :'( wahhhhh.

I don't have any pictures yet but I might later.. He appears to be a little darker and more grey than my "standard grey" older suggie Agnes! wahhh.

My boys face is lightening quick, it shocked me last night!
It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.

The aim of education should be to teach us how to think rather than what to think.

The difference in involvement and commitment is like a ham omelet. The chicken was involved. The pig was committed.

I'm sorry!

You can sometimes tell if they will be that color. I recenytly hada buttervcream female from to reg greys. I didnt even know and prob wont have know other then some people told me at the SGGA. I baught a new buttercream today and he is about the same age as my girl 3 months and you can just varley tell tat they are buttercream.

You never know like i said my buttervcream came from 2 regs and the boy has some very dominate buttercream parents.

I am not sure when the color comes iin even w/ pics its hard to tell unless its right next to a normal grey.
