Do your gliders have a room of thier own? In my room we bought a stand up little heater that you can control the temp. I got it at Target I think.

I don't think I would put anything in the cage. They can chew into them or even get too hot and get burned.

I use a reptile ceramic heater. It`s kept outside if the cage, out of their reach. I also have it plugged into a thermostat to control the temp. I have it about a foot away from the cage so there`s no spots that are TOO hot when they come near.

We were given a reptile heat 'rock' when we got our gliders. It stays just a little warm and seems to work fine.

Janet, I just want to let you know to be very careful of those heating rocks, they`ve been known for frying reptiles. The rocks tend to overheat and the reptiles don`t realize they`re being burned as their temperature is gradually rising along with the rock until they die. I just wouldn`t feel safe using it with my gliders. Just some friendly advice

I have to say any type of heating can be dangerous inside the cage. As said by Ellen, if they are in their own room, just use a small space heater that is temp controlled. As for inside the cage, just add some extra blankets in their pouch. You can also buy some really warm winter pillow pouches from Glider Daydreams.

Denise & Peggy -

Thanks for that info - I'll definitely get rid of the rock.

I think Glider Central's web address should be provided to every glider purchaser. I've learned so much.

i just bought a heater for winter for my gliders but im not sure if i did it right. i bought the red heat ( should not change their lighting from day to night...especially made for nocturnal animals, with the largest reflector dome i could buy. they say it will heat the area in the middle of my cages which i keep together, by about 15 degrees at most. i keep my house warm for them, but im making sure im doing the right thing since im new to kansas, and i hear it gets cold, cold here. i planned to place the lamp on a stand well out of reach of the cages. anyone have any advice for me on these heating bulbs?

I just love Glider Central. No matter what I want to know about my babies, there is always a post going on that very subject. You guys rock! I live in upstate SC and its been very cold here for here in October. 40's at night. I keep my house pre-glider at 68 all winter day and night and have been trying to decide what to do about the Gliders as their cages are in two different rooms. I did add extra little blankies to everyone's sleeping pouch the first night it got cold. And stayed up half the night with them. The little stinkers played all night like nothing was unusual except my big ugly mug staring in at them most of the night.
