Around the same time I got my first glider I've had eczema on my hand. I was wondering if my babies could be causing it?

Has the doctor told you that it IS eczema? Because alot of times the finger nail scratches can cause serious swelling and redness. Make sure they ACTUALLY test you for it and don't just look at it.

Some people's skin is very sensitive to the glider's nails. My daughter will break out with red splotches and itching on her hands and arms after playing with the gliders. The redness and itching goes away after a couple of hours. On the other hand, I never have a reaction. We were told by the doctor that it was just sensitive skin in the case of my daughter. I'm not saying that's the case with you, but just thought I would pass that info on.

I had horribly severe reactions that took me several months to figure out were from my gliders. I do have extreme sensitivity to many things and would be a mess from the chest to my forehead and be miserable. I am on a prescription medication now only once a day and it's been miraculous for me. I had to start out on this same med 4 times a day but now that it is under control once daily is sufficient to keep it at bay. If your interested in what the med is and discussing it w/your doc shoot me a pm and i'd be glad to share the name of it w/you. It's been a life saver for me. I know some people will wash well after handling their gliders and apply alcohol and/or benadryl cream and have success w/it so you may want to try that approach first. I did try washing and cream application but nothing over the counter gave me any relief.

the doctor did tell me it was eczema. I aske if it could be the gliders, and she said it was possible. I started suspecting them because one day they were sleeping in my bra and I had a rash when they came out.

Yeah, a doctor should CHECK for eczema! I can't stand that doctors don't actually practice medicine anymore. They just prescribe you something and say "there ya go. Have fun."

I personally have Eczema, It is a genetic disease! I get red and blotchy after play time, but that's just from their nails, not Eczema.

I had eczema when I was a kid (omg flashbacks of how bad it used to itch me!!!!!) ... anyways ~ lol ~ I'm one of the ones thats got the extremely sensitive skin when it comes to their nails ~ if I dont keep 'em cut, I'm in deep trouble! Anyways, they got me good one day and left a rash on my skin that looked very much like what I had when I was younger ~ but when their nails get me it doesnt itch, it burns more like bull needle or something, turns red, and welps up really bad.

I have Eczema myself it is genetic and I have never had a reaction to glider nails whether it be from them or from the eczema. The only time is flairs up with me is when I'm super stressed or if there are dramatic temperature changes.

okay, I actually went to the doctor. today for an exam for myself, and asked about this. NO GLIDERS CAN NOT CAUSE ECZEMA! NO ANIMAL CAN. IT IS GENETIC. it is said that felines can make you flare up, but they can not cause it, as it is genetic. and we all know our suggies are not Felines.....
