I know there have been previous posts on this topic, but has anyone tried crossing an ablino with a leu? I am SO interested in trying this. I've heard rumors that standard greys have been produced, but I don't see how this is possible if both leus and albinos are the result of double recessives. Any input? I'm considering finding an albino girl to pair with my leu boy. If their lines are far enough apart, does anyone see the danger? I know about the lethal white gene in horses, but that's a totally different combination. Thanks guys!!

If you look through the Breeding & Babies subforum called Breeding for Colors you may be able to find previous posts about this topic. Sorry that I can't answer it directly for you but hopefully someone who does breed for colors will be along soon to give you an answer.

Unless the leu was also an albino het, and the albino a leu het, the only color you'd possibly get are gray/wf joeys that are double hets for leu and albino.

Crossing white and white doesn't seem to be a good combination in any species. With Shelties (Shetland Sheepdogs) crossing white and white can lead to stillborn puppies or deformed puppies. I know a breeder that tried it and got an entire litter of puppies born with no eyes. Of course, she didn't know it right away because they don't open their eyes for a few weeks. She ended up having the entire litter put to sleep. Apparently Sheltie breeders like the whites because, even though you can't show them, if you cross them with a tri-color you will get nothing but blue merles, hence why she was trying to breed for white. breeders who want to breed blue merles like to use them. Not sure about how it would effect sugar gliders, but it seems to have bad results with horses and dogs, so... try it at your own risk....

I think this is a rumor because it happens with some snakes, but the truth is, there are a TON of ways to get blue eyed leucistics, black eyed leus, snows, etc.
Snake genetics are crazy. Get two mojave ball pythons to breed, you get ivories. Get two pastels breeding and you get super pastels. Breed a spider with a pastel, get a bumblebee. Breed a bumblebee with a pastel, you get killer bee. It's just insane. The possibilities are infinate!
That's not with suggies, however. (At least I'm pretty sure.)

EDIT - I didn't mean it was a rumor, whoops. lol I meant to say that the idea came from that.
