#72111 - 12/09/05 02:05 PM Cage Questions - Reptariums and Vertical Bar Cages

I have two questions about cages.

First, on the Reptariums, is the floor mesh really small? If so, how does the poop get through or does it just sit on the bottom for them to walk through? (I liked the idea that someone had of hanging fleece underneath to catch everything and then washing the fleece, but I wasn't sure if poop would slide through like with my current 1/2" by 1" bar cage.)

Second, I'm seeing some really nice cages that folks are buying that have 1/2" vertically spaced bars. Do the gliders have any problems? If these are OK, then why is the 1/2" by 1" recommended? (I have trouble seeing through the 1/2" by 1" cages.) Do the gliders end up grabbing at the top of the bar and sliding down?

So many questions. Any help is very much appreciated!!

[:"green"]The mesh on the floor of the reptariums is not big enough to allow excreta to fall through. I only have one reptarium that I am currently using as a hospital cage. I have to clean out the bottom of the cage every day... .
1/2" vertically spaced bars are fine. That's what my cages have, and the gliders have no problem with them. Their grip is strong enough that they really don't slide all that much.

You don't put the fleece under the cage. You put it in the cage on the floor. That way, you can pick the fleece up, shake it off, flip it over, and wash it the next night. If you have enough pieces of fleece you can put a new one in each night.
