If there is just one person out there i help out with telling this story to them, then i have done my job!! This is about my little 9 week oop baby, and my little scare What I'm about to tell you, will be all worth it to me if i can help..... Well as some of you know already, I was having a little bit of problems with getting my little 9 week oop baby to eat anything. She went 2 days without eating, and it wasn't getting any better. A member on this board mentioned the vet, and because of these people, ( You know who you are, PepPony, Ellen!!) I want to thank all of you that helped me out, you all are so nice!!! I found out today, the reason my little one was not eating, was because I had been trying so many different things on her so fast!!!
please, whatever you do, do not do what i did. I'm here right now trying to help anyone who is doing what i did! I will admit to you right now, i was a wreck!!! I was trying the new BML diet and thought to myself, this is not working, she hates it! It wasn't the BML, it was all the different foods i was giving my little one everyday, and not letting her little body get adjusted. My vet said, you have to treat this just like a real baby! He said to me, when your real baby first starts eating solid foods, you don't go to the store and grab every little thing off the shelf to give to her do you? NO, you would take it slow.
I had only had my baby 12 days and was determined to get her off the mix the breeder had her on, and when I did this, I in turn messed her whole entire system up. ( I went with so many different foods, to fast!! ) She was so backed up, poor little thing. She was constipated so bad. You should have seen the little x-ray. a little poop, then gas, a little poop then gas. She was all blocked up inside. It was as simple as a little mineral oil. She is now eating, drinking, and you wouldn't believe this, running all over me!! LOL!! I hope this helped out at least one person who might have this same thing happening to them right now.
I'm not saying, don't go to the vet, I'm just trying to help you from being so worried like i was. I thought i was killing her with kindness who would have known, i was just backing her up with to many different kinds of foods!!
I feel so much better now knowing my baby is going to be just fine now. Don't ever hesitate to ask anyone for help, because no question is stupid, not asking is stupid. Please, ask these nice people whatever you feel worried about, they really care!!! ( I mean they really care!!!) Thanks to all who were there for me. You all know who you are!!!! If you ever need me, I hope i can do the same for you one day.
With , SheilaT

So about how many different fruits and veggies should you feed each night? I feed My Mika right now, about 7-8 Different fruits a night and maybe about 5-6 differnt Veggies, Plus the BML and for right now until I find Mealworms, I'm feeding Waxworms about 5-6 each night, plus a little chicken and yogurt, two kinds of applesauce and three kinds of babyfood. Am I doing anything wrong or am I good? If I'm doing anything wrong please help me. thanks

Shortlilangel: sound like you have a really good diet set up... I don't know if there is such a thing as too much variety for a glider to eat!

Sometimes just stress can cause bowel problems like constipation, gas and the runs. It happens in people too. Changing not only surroundings, but the entire diet, can cause a lot of stress. When changing diet, just take it slow. It may be better to continue feeding half the breeder's old diet, and half the bml/new diet to ease her into it.

Actualy Thankfully I got lucky the breeder does feed them the bml when I got her he GAVE me all the ingredients I needed for it but i already had half of them anyway so it worked out pretty good, but there are certain nights where she won't even touch her BML, and she's also only 2 months oop.

Sheila--That was a fantastic post! I believe you have helped way more than just one person. Many people will read this who were originally shy about posting and because of you, they will post. I really like what you said about there being no dumb questions, just stupid answers. I have used that quote quite a bit in the forum if you look at some of my previous posts. We really do think much alike! Thank you for sharing your story. This was an important post in many ways!

Shortlilangel is proof that already one person opened up and was not afraid to ask questions. Kudos to you Shortlilangel! You sound as if you are using a free range diet or fresh food diet. It all sounds pretty good as long as your glider is getting the proper ratios of the foods. The only thing I could add is that I did not see mention of RepCal with VitD3 or Multiviamins. You want to make sure that your glider is getting enough calcium to prevent Hind Leg Paralysis(HLP).
The vitamins are essential because we can not duplicate exactly what a glider gets in the wild. So a vitamin supplement would be wise. Here is the link to BML with the type of Vitamins and Calcium Supplement people are using in the forum.

Mage --Good points in your post! Stress in combination with many things can create problems. Sometimes one thing may not be responsible for a particular health problem, but add in stress, and the problem rears its ugly head. That was an important point to make and I am glad you did!

Anybody else have a question or wish to share--please feel free now that SHEILAT has gone beyond the call of duty and opened the doors for you. Thanks again SHEILAT! I hope you keep posting at GC for a long, long time!

Thank you for that wonderful reply you wrote to me. It has been so long since i have met such nice people, who care so much. God bless you in every way. I wanted you to know also, that i do give BML to my little one with all of the vitamins you suggested. I got rep cal, and hpt. I add it to her BML. Thanks so much for all of your help.
I cried when i read your letter just now.
It touched my heart to read what you said about me helping someone else with there little baby.
I really do appreciate you giving me so much thought, and care.
