Well, tonight was the first night I attended the NH home show to hand out glider information and keep an eye on (PPP) Perfect Pocket Pets. Here is one important piece of information... according to the few (PPP) Perfect Pocket Pets employees there today, they do not hold a license and do not need to.

And here are some of the lies I heard tonight:

- gliders bond well with all cats and dogs
- gliders do not chew and are not destructive in any way
- gliders do not bite
- gliders do not make any sounds aside from crabbing which means that they either do not like you because you are a bad owner or the complete opposite
- fast food is an awesome everyday treat for gliders when you are out and about
- gliders love fries, doritos, spaghetti-os, and pizza hut
- gliders should never eat insects
- the sun does not bother a glider's eyes
- gliders do not need to be sold in pairs
- gliders do not need to stay nocturnal and can be trained to be the opposite to fit a person's needs
- gliders are amazing pets for people in wheelchairs because they never leave your side... and get this... they sold a glider out of their trailer to a handicapped person in a wheelchair. No lie. The claimed that they had no gliders with them to sell, but pulled this person aside and then took him out of the building and to their trailer where they sold him a glider for over $480. Ridiculous.

Also, one of the employees had 2 "8 week old" babies in his shirt pocket.... neither of them had their eyes open.

And...

When trying to get a glider to fly to them, the employees would hit and flick the glider's face to get its attention.

It made me so sick.

Tomorrow I will be back there to do what I can once again. I have been saving pictures and information from them, along with some recordings. I hope we can do something about these idiots.

Thankyou so much for doing as much as you can in this situation. Was the information you handed out accepted readily? I hope so, because with the trash they're feeding people, it's people like you that make the difference by being there-it can literally put this operation down and save gliders that are adopted from them by getting them proper treatment.

Its no problem, I love helping in any way possible, and I will not be the only one helping out at the NH show starting tomorrow smile The people I gave information to were very appreciative and accepted all that I told them. They were all very very nice and one girl who works at the cafeteria there offered to help pass out information to people who buy food this weekend after I shared some info and a brochure with her. I just try to be as open and friendly as possible and show that I am just a person trying to help another person and the animals I am so passionate about smile

I was at thier show in Va last weekend and heard all the same stuff. I like thier explination of why they call them "sugar bears" they say that is what they are really called and that stupid breeders and owners here in the states made that name up. They also said that they own the name "sugar bear".

Right now she has the ones in my signature (So You Want To Own A Sugar Glider) that's she using to hand out. I'd love to see a full size version of yours as the ones on the site aren't full size and they are really hard to read if you print them as they are frown

Thanks for what you are doing. The only way to stop this mill breeder is to get out the proper information on gliders. At least that way we help the gliders. Woder if they really don't have a USDA license and really don't need one? Where are they based? Here in Illinois it is required and it should be required for exhibit animals too. You did an awesome job keeping your temper, I admit I would have lost it and been escorted out! Keep up the good work you are doing!

Are you guys ready to hear the really sickening stuff that I saw today?

Babies.
Yes
Babies.
Eyes were not open and they were sold.
One family even purchased a pregnant female and two babies just as young.

The (PPP) Perfect Pocket Pets employees had a "8-9 week old" joey who cried and cried when they held it and tossed it around. It tried to cling to it's father's back and was pulled off many times. At one point the baby spit up and continued to cry and chew an apple chunk that (PPP) Perfect Pocket Pets gave to it- which it had no luck doing. I am going to leave it at that.

(PPP) Perfect Pocket Pets can make their gliders "dance". Yes. Dance. They dangle the babies from their front paws and swing them around like monkeys on trees.

A white-tip glider who's tail they had been yanking yesterday was suddenly missing and replaced by a glider who was missing half of its tail (the end looking freshly broken.)

(PPP) Perfect Pocket Pets did not offer the gliders water at any time the 7 hours I was there.

And to add to the lies...

- gliders do not need vet care and do not get sick
- glider food only costs $60 a year

(PPP) Perfect Pocket Pets pocket-neuters their babies before they are sent to their new homes.

And just today, they sold to a family from an illegal state and to an elderly couple who could barely hear what I was trying to tell them and could not read the brochure I gave to them, even with glasses.

I could hardly handle it. Luckily, we did get the word out and helped some people who were willing to listen, and luckily people started looking to me and those helping me for the right information.

We HAVE to do something and SOON. This has crossed the line and jumped the fence on the other side. Hopefully there is a cliff coming soon after that fence...

I'm so thankful for you helping out. I would have lost my temper. I'm happy you kept your cool. This makes me so sick to my stomach. That is just horriable! It's amazing what people would do for money...

I'm so happy some people came to you for the info on them. I think you did a WONDERFUL job. This is beyond animal abuse and everything like it.

I know I could of not kept my cool if I saw what you did. I would probably be in jail for trying to take all their gliders from them. People like them make me sick. And I hope they get real soon what they deserve.

We need to contact the USDA and the aspca's in the areas where they're selling. There are laws in most states about how old a puppy or kitten needs to be before it can be taken from it's mother. The same law needs to be followed for suggies...at a minimum. Most states say 49 days is the MINIMUM.

How about newspapers, and television news people. At a minimum it should be an interesting human interest story...and getting good info out about these little guys that are being sold all over would be perfect.

They're becoming more and more common and a couple of weeks ago a friend of mine was given the same line of garbage from (PPP) Perfect Pocket Pets and luckily she came to me and asked me if all the things she was told was correct...needless to say it wasn't. Along with all the stuff already listed she was told that Animal Planet and Discovery Channel were endorsing them. Bet Animal Planet and Discovery Channel would be interested in knowing that.

Ok so if (PPP) Perfect Pocket Pets EVER has the nerve to come to Georgia I'm going to wherever they have their booth and I'm gonna set up a BIGGER booth with a BIGGER sign that says "(PPP) Perfect Pocket Pets...the real scoop!" and I'm gonna have lots and lots of brocures with graphic photos of all the gliders (PPP) Perfect Pocket Pets sold to people that were sick and ill and have copies of the vet reports and I'm gonna have my babies there to show people what healthy gliders REALLY look like...Someone should let me borrow an 8 week old joey so I can show people what they really look like too....arggg (PPP) Perfect Pocket Pets!!!
