I just went and picked up this lil boy. he is in such bad shape. Hes all matted, his cage is super small. no pouches at all, never even had one, hes been eating wet dog food, no one know how old he is, I'm guessing 6 months. I got him from the animal shelter here. I registered so when they get gliders or even ferrets I get a call first. This guy is just horrible. I want to cry. They said he was confiscated from an apartment that had him and over 30 cats, 15 dogs, and 25 ferrets. I can't even imangine what this lil one has been through. What I need help on is ways to make him feel better. H has stopped shaking, or barking, he won't eat and he looks so sick.

First thing you need to do is get him to the vet asap. If he isn't eating or drinking, he is terribly ill and needs vet attention now. While it is great that you saved this one, you need to not take on more than you can care for. It really doesn't help the glider.

Until you get to the vet try and give him some pedialite. This will not re-hydrate him completely though, even if he starts eating and drinking he will still need to see a vet. Is he going to the bathroom? Does he have diarrhea?
Where are you located? I will try and out you in touch with somebody.
Please keep us posted.

hes eating now, hes still awake from earlier today. I have him (and all my gliders) on bml with mealies and baby food for treats. But hes not eating much. I have never been so worried about a glider before.

this lil one is eating some, but I think he is use to eating wet dog food so is having a hard time eating real food. He goes to the vet in just 3 hours. Wish him luck.

Poor little guy. I'm glad he's eating something healthy now. You'll have to take a picture of him in his new home to show us all how he's doing. We love seeing photos of successful rescues.

Definitely on the before and after pics!! Those speak in volume! Its a good way to bring awareness to others.

Good luck at the vet. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumb.gif" alt="" />

Ohhhhhh, please make sure you keep us updated on this little one, I'm ready to cry, I hope he gets better and you get to spoil him rotten! Give him lots of love and hugs from all of us! Have you gotten any supplies or a bigger cage yet? Where are you located?

I'm in vegas, My vet said he is calcuim deprived and sugar levels are low, along with a foot that had to be amputated. Hes sleeping now but I think thats because hes on pain meds. I will post pics when i'm able to take some of him without he shaking and crabbing. He is doing better. I have never had a rescue this bad off.
I've never had a glider have to have a limb removed <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> I feel so bad.

My other gliders when they are out playing they jump to him (I keep him in a bonding pouch with me) and try to cuddle him.

I love him so much already. I hate asking for help from people but I just feel so bad for him.

Thanks everone for your thoughts on him.

well. keep up the good work fairy. I would be careful though with your own gliders that he doesn't give them anything. I'm sure he'll pull through it with a good mommy like you!
