quick question what metals are safe for gliders?? i bought the stealth wheel and mounted it to the side of the cage and my girls loved it so much they literally broke 2 bars on the cage so now my wheel is on the stand but my husband wants to attach a piece of metal to the cage where the bars broke and attach the wheel to it so it has more support and the weight will not be on the bars but on the metal.. what metal is safe for them?? cause i really like having the wheel mounted on the side of the cage so you dont hear them at night running and the stand is not sliding all over...

did you have a washer placed between the wheel and the cage, on the inside and between the cage and the bolt on the outside, I think that is how your suppose to do it, if not I'm sure someone else will have a suggestion for ya!

A piece of high grade stainless like 316 would be best but may be hard to find. Don't use galvanize or copper. They will both tarnish and become toxic. If you use plain steel it should be painted with a non toxic paint.

I have been building cages made out of 1"x1/2" pvc-coated wire (from Klubertanz) and have plenty of scraps leftover. If you would tell me what size piece you need to cover up the broken bars and I will mail it out to you.

i did have a washer on the inside and outside of the cage for the stealth wheel and they ran so much the bars broke... my husband works for the airline industry and he can get any metal and thickness so that would not be a problem so stainless is ok and does it need to be painted?? or can i just leave the steel look??

PixTrix- what is exactly pvc-coated wire?? is it the same wire that they make cages out of?? like bird cages ect... and if so the size would be 20" inches long by 5" high if you can spare a piece that big i would like to reinforce the whole side if not i would gladly also take 9"inches X 5"...
if you can spare it PM me and i will give you my address and send you $$ for shipping... thanks

The pvc-coated wire is highly recommended for use in building glider cages. The wire itself is 16-gauge and coated with pvc coating. It lasts a good long time.

I can spare any size wire you need. Just tell me which size you would rather have and I will send it off to you. Which way would you prefer to have, the vertical or horizontal bars, or doesn't it matter? I built my cages with the bars vertically, 1" high by 1/2" wide.
