#92207 - 04/01/06 02:22 PM Are all bird toys safe?

I got a catalog from Drs. Foster and Smith (link) that has a TON of great bird toys in it. I can't even believe the variety!

Anyway, I want to make an order, but I'd like to make sure everything is safe before I buy it. I'm avoiding anything with leather and I'm sticking with wooden, plastic or acrylic toys. Is there anything else I need to be concerned about? I guess my main concern is the wood toys - do bird toy makers use any wood that is toxic to our suggies?

I know no one can say for sure, but any guidance is appreciated.

[:"blue"] Sorry for the late response. Seems many folks are getting the last of their Spring Break in

I would imagine most of the bird toys are safe for gliders including the wooden toys but they would probably enjoy the plastic more colorful ones better.

You can also find many great toys for gliders at the Dollar Stores and at Discount Stores in the baby section. Don't forget garage sales too.

Good luck and have fun spoiling your furry kids. [/]

Just like with any toys, just watch for certain unsafe items on the toys...strings, holes that little feet/hands/nails can get stuck in, and unsafe bells.

I believe there is a sticky in the Housing & Accessories forum that has a list of unsafe toy parts. You may want to read that and keep those ideas in mind when ordering.

Thanks for the responses! I don't recall seeing that sticky, so I'll have to check it out.
