I was researching to to build my own PVC cage, but I never wanted to try it because the hinges looked too complex. That is, untill i found this!

The hinges on my PVC cage are just long screws in the top and bottom of the very corner of the door. They work great!

I thought of that too, but I'm not sure if they'd be too wobbly. Are they nice and stable?

They are really stable. I actually have to use a fair bit of force to shut them because they fit tightly in the frame. You can adjust the stability by tightening the bolts.

You might add a couple nylon washers between the door and the frame to provide just a little space between them. The screw would go through the washers so they would be held securely in place. The nylon washers would allow the door to turn a little easier.

I have been working with PVC pipe lately to refine my cage idea. Careful with the easy hinges like that. I am making my cage of 1/2 inch PVC and you have to get 1 inch PVC to make the hinges. If you don't screw them in the proper place then you have too much gap and your kids can get out. If you use PVC glue it is not actually glue. I was told by the guy at the hardware store that it actually makes me PVC malleable and then the plastics stick together when it solidifies again. I would thoroughly clean it though afterwards. Also it had fumes so either do it outside or in another room.

I actually made some hinges with the hardware net that I used to cover my cage with.

Yes, PVC cement is actually a solvent that "melts" the PVC so the two pieces being joined will bond together.

I actually bought hardware net online here's home depot's Home Depot Hardware Net
but you might be able to find it cheaper elsewhere.

For hinges I cut 2 square by 13 squares and connected it with zipties.
