In two days I am getting my two gliders. I am getting a female and male. Today we are building the cage and then either today or tomorrow I am going shopping for their toys. Any suggestions on their favorites?

A wheel is a must!! My gliders and everyone elses I'm sure, love running in there wheel. There are a few safe ones out there for suggies. The Wodent Wheel, The Stealth Wheel, The Comfort Wheel and The Silent Spinner. It can't be just any wheel because they will get hurt and end up injuring themselves pretty bad!! Others will be along soon with more advice. Good luck!!

LOL, Kat

Sometimes you can find cute toys by looking through the baby aisle of a Wal-Mart. Just make sure that they're not water-filled teething toys or have small parts that can be chewed off.

The cat/bird aisles of the pet store can also furnish some fun things....HOWEVER.....be SURE not to get ANYTHING that can be filled with catnip or have catnip spray on it! (To explain why to WATCH OUT: CATNIP IS DEADLY TO SUGAR GLIDERS!!!) Good choices (for instance) would be small plastic balls w/ jingle bells inside, interlocking plastic rings, ropes with beads (I'd stay away from things that include pieces of leather/rawhide), mirrored toys.

Sometimes homemade toys are most loved: I had plastic chain & tied short fleece pieces of all colors on it. Another favorite toy is a metal ball with a bunch of straws stuck through it. Even a cardboard tube from Christmas wrapping paper makes a fun tunnel for little ones to run through!

A great "playtime" toy (NOT TO BE LEFT UNSUPERVISED!!!) is a peacock feather! Mine spend HOURS being tickled by the feather, than chewing on the "quill" end! You can't buy better laughs for $1.00 each!!

I am going to move this to Housing & Accessories, as I think you will get more input there…

To answer your question…

barrel of monkeys, the toddler peka block – but I get the balls, feathers are good for out of cage play, and definitely a wheel (stealth is what I prefer, lol so do my gliders…lol)

A feather boa is a must too!! 100% supervision at all times is required with the boa though. My gliders love to play with theirs!!

Most pet shops will have the peacock feathers in the bird toy section.
