We are starting to loose some really great folks that were not only a huge part of GliderCENTRAL but also to a lot of us personally not to mention the impact they had on/with sugar gliders. When Karin passed away, Bourbon shared with me all of the SGGA pics she had been passed down. Today, KarenE had asked for photos of Miss Ellen if anyone had any and I went through only half of the photos I have of all of the SGGA's, as I believe '05 or '06 was the last SGGA Miss Ellen had attended. I found a few and I will be posting them in the thread about her. However, I also wanted to share all 1963 (not all uploaded) photos I have in my possession right now of all the SGGA's past. The memories these brought back to me were something, but much more than that, as I sat and really looked at them and allowed myself to truly remember things, we not only had fun, we were CLOSE. It was indeed a true FAMILY atmosphere. Even those who did not see eye to eye or really care for each other could be seen standing around altogether in a group laughing and cutting up and just enjoying the togetherness and joys of being a sugar glider owner. I had to ask myself (and Sherri as she was on the phone with me) What happened to all of that? Yes, there are still gatherings and conferences, but there is such division amongst everyone now. Just a few years back at these things, if people were in their rooms, their doors were left open and others were just wondering the halls. You just walked into someones room and just start chatting, whether you knew them or not. Thats how many friendships began. In the evening after the conference, everyone could be found in the same general location laughing, usually so hard you couldnt get up off the floor, or out of your seat, and cameras were constantly flashing and taking photos. It was just too much fun to not want to take those photos because you just never wanted to forget. Seems like just yesterday yet it also feels like ages ago. What I would do to have those days back again, to have that feeling back again, to have that joy back again within the walls of our sugar glider community. So pull up a chair and take a walk back in time with me, really look at the faces and you will see, smiles were not fake and friendships were true. Past SGGA's

Peggy, thank you so very much for posting these pictures. I have no idea what page I am on or how to decide which ones to pick, but you are so right in your post.
If you don't mind, I will choose some of my favorite memories of Ellen for her post, but then some of my other favorites of SGGAs in general.
For starters, do you remember what we had our heads together about in this one? I sure do You always got me into trouble I swear Peggy made me do it! But I DID win the auction, OH YES, I did

Ah, how one begins to recognize one's own ignorance... Having been on the boards a little while now, I too acknowledge the forum's overall senescence, and begin to realize this community was once much larger, and more closely knit. But there are fires that remain, bright stars to guide us wanderers in the night. I have been touched by their light, by their kindness. This place, even as a ruin of what it was, is still the best place I've ever been, and that alone speaks to the overwhelming power it had, continues to have in any respect, and may have once again. I think one thing most people here don't realize is that nowhere else can you find such a genuine group of people who would go so far as to treat a stranger such as I like one of their own, like a member of their family or a dear friend. Miss Ellen, I gather, was one such person. I have never known such a sanctuary as Glider Central. I apologize if this is a distraction to the topic at hand, but I cannot help but express my sincerest gratitude to all of you here at GC.

Trust is the quintessential bond, it is the foundation from which love thrives.
Discipline must be learned before desire is to be filled.
Patience is the eloquence of nature, and maturity of thought.

Welcome to the family. And yes, we were indeed a VERY close knit family. I seriously miss those times.
These pictures make me smile but sad at the same time. I hope that one day we can back to that kind of a community again.
I personally think that I'm going to try to get to know new owners more, have more fun, keep things in the past and renew some old friendships.
I miss you all and and hope you join me in the upcoming gatherings for friends, family and fun! I'll be standing beside you trying to bring back good times again as well. I too seriously miss those times.
