Hi, when I bought my sugs, they came with a wooden ladder that they love. I would like to purchase more but know that there are toxic woods, dyes, etc... Does anyone know where I can buy safe ladders for my babies?

Also, they seem to have chewed on the one they have. I believe that I read they do not need gnawing toys since their teeth don't grow. But these guys like to chew on the wooden ladder. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Honestly, I wouldn't recommend a wooden ladder because when my gliders had one it got soaked in pee and stunk up the cage, maybe a plastic alternative?

You could still use wood ladders that aren't painted, they may need to be replaced after a time due to urine absorption will lead to odor, but if you don't mind replacing them, they're okay. Also as mentioned you could look for plastic versions.

Sugar gliders do not require chewing, but some do and at different levels. Usually, if they chew, they will continue to chew, but you may reduce the destruction by offering several options of "chew toys". Chew toys for sugar gliders are typically hard plastic toys such as the packs of army men, or that type (animals included), barrel of monkeys, straws, mine love to chew on straws, and typically any plastic that's not rubbery would be great for them to chew on and having them incorporated in toys and/or placed around the cage will offer them activities all around and encourage them to use all areas of their cage.

If you purchase a bird/parrot safe glider they are safe for your gliders.

The paint/dye they use is safe for parrots.

I agree. I would avoid anything wood as it does cause a strong odor and it's getting warm outside. Terry gave you some great options for toys that they chew on. Changing up their cage and switching out toys often will also help to keep them entertained. Plus, it's fun watching them explore new stuff.
