There is so much good information on here! Thank you!

I have a new mom with two joeys, 1 wk OOP. They have their eyes closed and have some fur. They did very well the first week, but last night I found one of the babies on the floor of the cage. I put it back in the nesting pouch and mom was OK with me putting it back in with her. This morning it was on the floor again. They have it back in the nesting pouch with them again. I have gotten things ready in case I have to feed and care for it. But there will be hours during the day I won't be home so I wouldn't be able to feed it as often as necessary. From what I've read it's best to keep returning it to the mom if possible and supplement if necessary. The other joey seems to be doing alright and not coming out of the nesting pouch. I just want to be sure I'm doing the right things for them. Does this sound like inexperience since they are new parents or like there may be something wrong with the one joey?

It is possible that she isn't producing enough milk. Have you increased the amount of food that your feeding the adults? Increase the staple and the fruits and vegetables.

What diet are you feeding?

You may need to supplement the joeys if she doesn't have enough milk. Here is a link Suz's Sugar Gliders , there is a lot of information on rejected joeys and supplementing joeys on her site.

Do you have a scale to weigh the joeys? A kitchen gram scale works best, make sure it measure small amounts. Weigh them at the same time every day as having just eaten and pooping will make a difference. So as a rule of thumb weigh them at the same time daily and record their weight so you can see if they are gaining.

I did increase how much I was feeding so there was still some left every morning. I am feeding the TPG diet. I found the dad sleeping in another pouch today. I don't know if she was not letting him in their pouch or he had no interest in the babies. Then I found the gray baby dead mostly cannibalized in the nesting pouch tonight, the white one (which was the one I was finding out on the floor) looked nice and healthy and active in the pouch. I am wondering if mom is leaving the pouch too long and the white one was climbing out to look for her without a warm sibling to share the pouch. I weighed the baby tonight, 16g. After I weighed the baby it climbed on mom's back and she took it to the other pouch. She seems fairly good at checking on it.

I did find her page, so much good information! I ordered formula today. I have pedialyte and lots of syringes (benefits of being a nurse).

I am making sure to give her some mealworms too. Maybe some extra calories and protein could help?
