So...I check Craigslist a few times a week just to see if there is anyone looking to rehome their sugar gliders (not for right now, but possibly in the future). The last three I've looked at are all clearly from Pocket Pets (the cage, wodent wheel, and the fact that they come with a heat rock and are on a pellet diet).

It breaks my heart. I want to take them all in and I know I can't. It saddens me to know they might go to another person and have the same dangerous items in their cage. One of the posts even said, "Gets along with other animals since he is a marsupial." Why don't people research this stuff, ESPECIALLY since they are an exotic animal. Sigh.

Sorry for this random post, just venting I suppose.

Unless you are looking to add another glider or two to your family - save yourself the pain and heartache and just stay off Craig's List.

this is why I told the wife I was ok with 4 gliders but NOT to breed. plenty of needy gliders out there that need a good home.
so many people aren't willing or able to do a good job with their gliders.
the day the wife came home with a glider, we have tired to research and learn about these critter and provide a good home. toys/food/ large cage/ large playroom. And I still try to learn more and hope we are doing everything right.

I know, it is so sad. There's one posted here that is in a hamster cage! I recently spoke to a woman who heads up a rescue here and asked if she looks on Craigslist. She does and she reaches out to people offering to find good homes for their gliders. Sadly, it seems most don't take her on her offer.

They are asking $350 for the standard grey in a hamster cage. Needless to say, he's been available for a long time.

It's hard for me to comprehend getting a new animal and not wanting to research and learn as much as you can.

100% agree, and we do not allow the posting of CL ads here. Sometimes those ads are not what they appear to be, so you need to be extremely careful.
