Hi I joined this forum because I've been requested to make some cage accessories for a relatives pair of sugar gliders. She requested all fleece.
I make hammocks for rats, would those be a good size for sugar gliders? Yes, that would be a good size for the gliders hammocks. also she said mentioned something about the stitching has to be super tight..?Yes, the stitching has to be small. I use the smallest setting on my machine, it takes a bit longer but if it keeps them from getting their little nails caught it is worth it.
I use grommets for my rat hammocks, are those ok in sugar glider hammocks? Some people use grommets they just have to be small enough that they can't get their heads through and there are no sharp edges.
I did a search for sugar glider cage sets for sale and they all seem to have loops for hanging instead, is there a safety issue with grommets? size and sharp edges are a concern.
I want to be sure anything I make is safe for her new babies!! I know how much I treasure my pet rats and I'm sure she feels the same way about her new pets
thanks in advance, Petunia

Just want to say that you want to make something that is easy to clean/put in through the washing machine because Gliders' bedding can get stinky pretty fast. What I make for my glider is very simple. Per one glider bed; I just cut a big square from the fleece and puncture a hole in each corner (Don't make the whole too big or too close to the edge, you don't want it to rip). Then cut out four strips from the fleece then pull one strip through each corner. This is what I use to hang it from the top of the cage, cut according to the length you want it to hang. Then to make a pouch; I cut two big 'U' type of shapes and then sew them together. I do try to make the stitching close together for the Gliders' safety as well to help preserve during washing. I also make a lot of them at a time, so that when one is washing they still have somewhere to snuggle!!(: Hopefully I explained this well, if you have any question feel free to ask!
RIP my little munckins! I will always love you!<3 Flash (02/26/15-12/17/16) 'Baby Face' Nelson (12/10/14-01/02/17)
